I went down to a local muffler shop and the guy wants $200 for full stainless steel piping from the cat all the way back to the muffler/TIP...he said my car just has resonators and that those can just be removed...
My question is, shouldn't there be a muffler like half way through the car and THEN the TIP?.....I want to go 2.5 only because i heard 3" will give me boost creep...is this true? I'd appreciate any opinions on what to do for my exhaust setup

Thanks for your help

Cat---piping-----muffler------------------exhaust tip Shouldn't that be the right way?

Your muffler should be right before the tip.. and it should be your only muffler :)

Not normally with a cat-back. Boost creep normally becomes more apparent when you get a 3inch DP>

Sounds good...I planned on getting a DP and hi-flow CAT but I don't wanna deal w/ boost creep so I think I'll just get the cat-back....
They told me they could make me a custom full IC pipe also, should i use 2.5" or 3" for the ic pipe? either one is the same price...

2.5. 3inch is over-kill on IC pipes unless you are a full drag car.

hey man i got a magnaflow #18204 (3'" into 4") and it is immediately before the tip - asctually the tip is the part of the muffler and the hole going into the tip is 4" - i'm running a 2.5" high flow cat then 3" all the way through the muffler and i had no resonators or anything like that. custom mandrel bent by a local shop. i attached the bill - notice he only charged me 100 to bend and weld it!!!

btw i have absolutely no creep and i'm gonna have him bend me 2.5 ic pipes and a 2.5" dp!

$456 for the full catback!?...that's kinda expensive if you ask me....The guy wants 200 even but if i want a different muffler he's gonna add like $50...I think i'm going 3" then.....how does your magnaflow sound?

well he wrote down 18204 but looking at the site i think it's the 14828 - maybe he's dyslexic - either way he did a hell of a job and it's nice and throaty not like that mommy boy's lil civic up the street.

check out my pics

the oinly prob with this muffler is it's not avail in 3" inlet and they'll have a helluva hard time stretching 2.25" out to 3.25 without cracking to allow your main pipe from the cat if you go 3"

Aw this sucks... i was thinking maybe this one

With the tip of the other exhaust...I want the round type canister cause i wanna slant it like the N1 sorta...

You could look at 14828. It has the tip like you like and a 3" inlet, but it's oval.

I have it on my car and really like it. Oval shape plus no slant up equals much less chance of scraping that pretty muffler on a speed bump.

If you really like the N1 look but don't want to pay $200, there are a lot of companies that sell N1 knockoffs for about the same price as the Magnaflows (~$100).

Jim thanks a lot...i was looking at that oval one too...I think i might just get that one....So yours is just 3" piping from the CAT to the muffler/tip correct? How does your exhaust sound? does it get really loud when you get on it in?

My exhaust is 3" O2 eliminator turbo back from RNR with internal dump and a high flow cat. I got it from RNR with no muffler and had that magnaflow welded on locally. It's pretty loud at WOT but not ridiculous. I like the sound. It's a little loud cruising at 70-75, but again, totally bearable. You can get a silencer like the N1 has for any of the magnaflows with a single wall tip for about $30. I haven't bothered to get one. If I did a lot of long trips in the car I might. With just a catback, yours will be a good bit quieter.
