Walbro 255HP Max HP?

Just trying to see if anyone has an idea of the maximum horsepower that the walbro 255HP pump can support. I'm currently running an FP3052 but going to purchase an FP88HTA probably. Thanks for the help in advance.

I don't the exact number of hp it can support but it's more than enough for a FP3052. I've seen it support up to 740whp. You need to worry they injectors and fpr.

You should be asking how much air flow can the fuel pump support with certain injectors. This will help match up the pump and injectors needed for a certain turbo.

The Walbro 255hp can support up to 760 crank Horsepower at 17.5 volts. This level of voltage can only be attained by way of a "Boost a Pump". This is also dependent on Fuel pressure/Boost Pressure/ Other Factors..etc..

On a car equiped without a Boost a pump (around 13.5 volts) it will only support about 500whp. 99% of the dsm world only need ONE walbro 255hp with a boost a pump. The 700+ hp set up guys need a 2nd pump.

Thank you for your replies. I have read the other thread on fuel pumps and injectors before I'm just trying to figure out when I'm going to need either a second pump inline or just a larger intank pump. I'm running 1000cc injectors and one 255HP. Just seeing what else is out there...

Everything I've ever found on the 255hp has its max range around 500whp.

According to FP, the 255HP pump is good for 600hp.

If you are looking to do over 600AWHP, the easiest way, is to install a Walbro 255HP in-line pump with -6AN lines from the Walbro 255HP in-tank, and a set of 1000cc injectors. This will keep the streetablity and idle good without needing 1600cc injectors, and will easily support over 1000HP.

You will want to hard-wire both fuel pumps, and place the in-line fuel pump in an accessable area near the firewall. I chose underneath the passenger floor pan near the frame rail, and ran the wiring through the drain plug in the floor pan. Use an 8gauge power wire with a 60A in-line fuse to the fuel tank area, and then attach it to a 2-signal relay (5-prong 40A minimum). You can pick one up at Napa Auto Parts for $10 or less. Then use 10gauge power wire from the relay to each fuel pump with 10gauge ground wires for both. Use an 8gauge ground wire from the relay to the frame (clean metal, soldered fittings with heat shrink and tape). Use a -6AN fitting from the fuel pick up to a -6AN hose, run to the in-line fuel pump with the proper metric-to-6AN fittings (it is a N.O.S. part -- you can purchase them through Summit Racing or Pegasus Auto Racing), then another -6AN line from the fuel pump to an in-line -6AN fuel filter, then another line from the filter to your fuel rail inlet with a -6AN fitting. Use a -6An return-side fuel rail fitting, to a -6AN line, to your stock fuel rail return hard line. Use a -6AN Pro-Clamp (purchase from Pegasus) to connect the -6AN line to the factory hardline return.

This is a fairly complete list of what you need to do. I hope that you can handle the rest.

If you have concerns, contact me. This is my setup. Proven to easily make well over 750AWHP (1000HP at crank) at 42psi on a GT4088R. Once I am finished dyno'ing the car, I will post up the maximum attained HP on the 1000cc injectors. It should be able to do around 800-825AWHP (1050-1075HP), before requiring an upgraded injector. I will be using 1600cc injectors after the 1000's are maxed.

I noticed the same thing at first. Why would a guy that traps 132 MPH in the 1/4, ask about 255HP capacity? Obviously he's been there already??
