When will it become inefficient? I'll be upgrading to a fmic in the next 6 months, but until then, I'd like to know.

i don't know the exact HP, but if you plan to upgrade your turbo, then the sidemount will just die trying to charge all the air.

echo is right in a sense if your gonna run a bigger turbo go for a front mount or one of dejontools modified sidemounts the ports are much bigger i think something like 2.5 or so!

a while back i was on the buschur website reading an article about this talon they have a couple of years back... ran i think it was 11'7 with factory sidemount still in place now i dont kno if they had changed the ports maybe maybe not but it was proven that a factory sidemount can make real good numbers

The factory IC heat soaks pretty quick on a totally stock car, so you need to qualify your question a bit better. An intercooler's capacity to cool is dependant on the amount of cooling air coming through how long you're on boost, not to mention a dozen other factors. I'm sure someone has run 11's on a stock IC, but that doesn't mean that you will. The "simple" answer is that you can run 13's on pump pretty easily with the stock turbo/IC with the right "other" mods.

thats wat i was thinkin bout the heat soak that starts to build up in the intercooler but if they said they did then i guese they did it...wat mods are u planing to do within the 6 months to make you think of this qeustion?

Noslaser has made 420+ to the wheels on the stock sidemount and all stock piping.
I was on Marc Hallmans website a few days ago and he ran 114 traps on the stock sidemount with a 20g and when he switched to a frontmount he was able to get 120 traps.
You will always be losing hp through the stock sidemount!

RRE sales griffin fmic for $475, but you need to make your own piping for it. that's what would do if you really want to make power.
