all right, so i hooked up my msd dis-2 box and when i tried to start the car it would just crank and crank but not start. i checked everything? wires, connection etc but could not figure it out. i read the manual but still could not figure out whats wrong. i made a makeshift harness that i can easily plug and unplug incase i wanted to go back to stock ignition. i checked the harness and eveything checked out.

when i turn the iginition to the on position is the led light suppose to be lit? when i try and crank the led does not even blink.

any one have ideas?

o read on another thread that 99 gsx does not need the tach adapter? is this right? also for those who have an MSD hooked in a 2g how do you have your wires hooked up?

What if you plug in the bypass plug? Does it start then?

If so then, well.... Might Start Daily. Mine lasted a whole 2 miles before it fried, never got around to sending it in to get fixed.

no i have not tried the bypass plug but i did plug the stock ignition tpgether and fired right up. the led does not even blink when i crank.

Mine had major starting issues when i bypassed the power transistor to use the MSD as the sole igniter box. Also, make sure you have the dip switches set right. You only need the one for "waste spark" setup to "on" other than that the electric start can be up, and the last 3 on the last switch can all be up or down. I have mine up

make sure you don't ahve the one for "ignition test" or somethign like that turned on. and if your running a stock ECu, you must retain the factory ignitor as teh current signal must be set differently to trigger teh MSD and you can't do this ona stock ECU

well i tried the bypass plug and still would not start. any ideas?

anyone with a msd dis 2 on a 2g eclipse? how did you hook up your wires?

I have one and it works just fine.. I just hooked the wires up according to the instructions. I don't remember it off the top of my head, but i used the voltage to the coils to the 2 voltage in wires, then put the 2 reds to the coils, hooked the main power and ground direct to the battery, then spliced the coil wires into the harness

i think i found my problem. my tach adapter is shot..got to get a new one. when i took it off the car started right up..thanks

That's odd, and what wires does your tach adapter hook to? I use the 8912 and hooked it up to my crank triggger wire. I do all my customers cars this way as well. it seems that most other shops around here hook them up like MSD suggests and then the factory tach will work when it wants to (usually not at idle or goes out when cruising) After hooking them up to the crank signal, then outputing the 8912's output to the factory tgach input down where teh wire connects to the factory ECU just cut it and hook to the MSD adapter.

I haven't seen many go bad is why i brought this up

well after i traced and traced and traced i removed the tach adapter and it woks fine. it was not getting a signal to the coils.
