Ok so I drew this up real quick this morning excues the artwork. I'm trying to make an actual diagram fro wiring up COP and a DIS-2 into a 1990 should also work for 91-94s by just eliminating the tacho interface for the stock cluster. So heres what I've come up with so far.

My question is now where the MSD intercepts the signal (T-splices in).
Heres the MSD diagram.

Heres the question you have Black/white IGN 12volts,Trigger 1,Trigger 2 out of coil harness and Coil(+),Coil(-),Coil(-) going to the coil. How do you know the difference between Trigger 1,2 and both Coil(-)s. In order to hook up the green,white,brown/green and brown/white wires. Randomly hooking these up could throw off the firing order correct?? I assuming that my Blackwhite from COP diagram is the 12v ign that MSD refers to. So which is which bewteen red and white for trigger 1 and 2, and then how to match the coil(-)s to the trigger wires????

Here is the original COP diagram for a 90 too.

You should be able to split the wires (orange and brown (coil + out) & the (2 reds (coil +) between 2 coils each to achieve acive a wastespark config with the 2 channel unit. Anything is possible, just make sure that line level voltage is the only one you split as it's more signal than amerage drawn output in the sence of voltage/signal to fire the coMSD box and from teh MSD to coils...i'm drunk so i hope that makes sense

example...split the output from 1-4 to each repective coil, and split 2-3 to their respcetive coils

it doesn't matter, as long as both have power and both orange/browns are hooked up. You might have to change the plug wires to their opposite coils, but that's the only issue i can see.

You do know that you will have to cut and either solder the wires or use the connections they give you. I put mine in and it took me about 2 hours, the longest part being mounting it and running the wires. As long as you have a wiring schematic for the 90 you should be fine

Thats the problem I can't just swap plug wires its COP i would have to reverse the wiring and i hated cutting solder connections and redoing them.

Couldn't you just run the connector to a different coil or is there not enough slack?

Depends on how much slack I make when i make all the wiring:D and yes I know have to solder and cut i do it everyday at work I'm just I hate cutting up harness twice.

I understand that but which wire is 1-4 and which 2-3 out of white and red???

I found my notes from when I installed mine; red = 1/4, white = 2/3. It was probably over a year ago that I installed it, so I don't remember too many details. You don't need the adapter in the first diagram for a coil-on-plug setup. (The diagram is for the stock two coil setup.)

Just curious how come you don't need the MSD adapter with COP I mean will happen If i do use it, and also would red 1/4 be considered trigger 1/channel 1?

You probably would need the adapter if you had the stock 2 coil setup in order for the firing signals to be correct. I don't think MSD intended for the DIS-2 to be used with a 4 coil setup on a 4 cylinder engine. In any case, I tried the adapter when I installed mine, but I couldn't get it to work right until I removed it.

Ok so I was working on the car today and looked my coil plug has large black/white, white, yellow/blue, yellow/black wires so red and white and yellow on the diagram are completely off

AIght so I'm assuming yellow/blue is actually yellow/green so the would match up red 1/4 and yellow/black would be white 2/3. Large black white is 12v and small factory white goes to yellow on tacho interface wire. It was late last night and i didn't realize the answer was right in front of my face. :thumb:

I have been curious about this. It is still possible and ok to run a DIS 2 with a cop setup(4 coils) even though a DIS 4 would be better correct? How does the unit perform configured like that? WHen you guys are saying it didn't work with the adapter are you talking about the tach adapter?

So what if you dont have MSD ive been wanting to know whats the benefit of cop?Is it really worth 500.00?

Ok I know this thread is old but I am rewiring my 1990 COP with my msd dis 2 box and I am stumped right now. Are the red and white wires the triggers on the coil side of the connector towards the coil pack and were does the little resistor box go? If someone can help me out that would be great, if it wasn't for me having a 1990 car I would have figure this out by now.
