anyone ever tried this? its an all aluminum, larger version of the stock supra sidemount. ide be getting new hardpipes made to fit it, and i dont really mind having to cut into anything (as long as its not major, or have anything to do with the structural rigidy) i was even thinking of fiding a small electric fan to mount on it to help circulate air. heres a couple pics...anyone have any thoughts?

If its any wider than the supra SMIC it will probably not fit without cutting some pretty important stuff. and if its any taller it'll hit the ground all of the time. if its any deeper you will hit it with the tire when you turn. and it better be tight or you'll run it over the first time you launch.

get through all of those problems and its all good ;)

LOL, im kinda new to dsms..i was a supra guy before so i never had these tight spaces i had to work with.

i hate spending 1200-1300 on a nice fmic, though thats really what i need to do prolly.

thanx for the input, if anyone has tried this or know of someone, please respond..thanx:)

If your saying that this i/c is anything like a supra i/c then your gonna be doing come cutting of the frame. A supra i/c is massive, you could almost use it as a front mount if it would fit. But if you say that you can make it fit as a side mount then more power to ya.

Antilles, i have a ques. for ya...if it cant be any bigger in ANY direction, what is the point of upgrading our intercoolers for supra IC's? are ours just not as efficient as supra ic's or what??

Think of it this way...Supra ICs regularly support 300+ HP. Our ICs came on a car making 190 +/- HP (what was the 1g 4g63t HP spec?). You do the math. I'll look around for flow rates.:thumb:

Its a lot bigger than the stocker...about 4 times larger. There is plenty of free space on the stocker. The supra IC literaly has to be jammed in there. I had to lay down in front of the car and pull it as hard as i could to wedge it in there far enough forward to clear the tire.

oh, and i see what you are saying now. You must have thought that i was refering to the stock IC in my first post. I was not. I was reffering to the stock Supra IC. the one he has is an aftermarket IC for the supra.

Looks like the thread starter has some tank flippin to do ;)

Right, I'de love to see him flip the tanks on that greddy one! I have a regular MKIV on mine and had a hard time sucking it all behind the splash guard.

The stock sidemount from a supra is a CLOSE fit, i have not done it myself, but on www.vfaq.com. they shot how to do it, on the 1g's and 2g's and it is a damn close fit, so i am pretty sure the bigger greddy one will fit.

Sam

The only downfall to the greddy is flipping the end tanks. It's slightly different that a stock one. Maybe the fact that it is welded so you'll have to cut it and have it re-welded.

Yeah, the top endtank would need to be cut and re-welded. I forgot about that. On the 2G i would say that it might be possible....but i really doubt that it will fit into a 1G. On the other hand the endtanks look a lot slimmer.

Just for you guys I will go freeze my ass off to measure the stock supra IC....

Chris

Alrighty, I got us some numbers to play with. And just for fun i measured the stocker and both ICs with and without endtanks.

______Stock DSM IC____________________Stock Supra
______Core_____With Endtanks__________Core_______With endtanks
Width__8"_______8"____________________11"________11"
Height_6"_______11"____________________9"________13"
Depth__4"_______4"____________________6"_________6"

I hope when i hit reply it shows up as neatly as i entered it.
Oh, and the supra sits lower than the stocker and also further back. it clears the tire by 1-3" depending on where you are steering.

Chris

*edit*
I put the lines in to keep things spaced nicely. I hope it doesnt make it TOO hard to read.
