i have an external oil cooler on my car it was hooked up with my old motor till i blew it up, now a freind of mine who helped me with the new motor and never hooked back up the external oil cooler, the hoses are still there but they are not connected to anything

im wondering if this is why i am getting no oil pressure signal on the guage inside the car
i searched the forums and havent found anything usefull

would somenbody please give me a lil info if you go any or atleast to have the pressure signal work cause thats the one thing my dsmlink does monitar thats guys

So what exactly is your question? How to hook up an external oil cooler back up? or why don't you get any oil pressure signal?

If it's the latter, it's probably just the electrical connection not being made. These fall off / are forgotten about quite frequently. If you look at the first photo in my writeup, you'll see that big brass looking cylinder, the OEM one looks quite a big smaller and rounder, but mounts in the same location. You need to locate that and plug it back to the harness.

sir, so you say the 90 housing, do you mean to say that only the 1990 year of housing came with an oil cooler? I pulled the drive train out of my 90 tsi sunday night, and me and my friend though it was awesome that my car came with a stock oil cooler, is it like this on all the 1g's or just the 1990's.

thankyou.

1990 turbo models were the only cars that came with external oil coolers.

Wait, you have an external oil cooler and it's not hooked up to the oil filter housing? If you in fact have a 90 housing ; either it was blocked off, or you'd be spilling massive amounts of oil when the oil pump was churnin'.

Take a look at this tech article, how does your setup on the oil filter housing look compared to this one?

On top of that if you are using the same oil cooler that was on the motor when it blew up ...not good. There is debris inside that cooler that you cannot flush out properly. If you arent puking oil everywhere you would be better off not using it...or even better off further by getting a new one.
