Hey all, quick question. Does the 2G have an IPS (Idle Position Switch)? If so, where is it located and how do I test it to make sure it's working correctly? Pictures would be helpful.

Thanks,

They have idle air controllers or IAC. Those are located on the bottom side of the throttle body. There is also a throttle stop switch and obviously a tps on the throttle body.

Oh ok. I've already replace the ISC and I know about th TPS. Where is the Throttle stop switch? I need to test it out.

It's built into the TSP. I forgot which wire it is. a 1g has a seperate ips switch and a 3 wire tps. a 2g has it built in to the tps and is a 4 wire sensor.

This is all for the 4g63, not 420a

Great, Thanks. Any idea how to test the IPS?

I just use the scan tool and look at it. That's what i had to do when I put a 2g TPS in my 1g.

I havn't tired this, but you should be able to put a volt meter on that wire and measure resistance. Back probe whichever pin is the IPS with the meter on Ohms. Put the other test lead on anything metal that will ground ok. Move the throttle a little with your hand and watch the meter. With the TPS at idle, you should see a measurment of Ohms. Once you move the throttle enough that the IPS is no longer grounded, you should see open on the meter. Or how ever your meter shows an open cirtuit. As if the leads were touching nothing at all.
