I am converting my fuel system over to e85 and was wondering at what point the stock fuel line becomes too small to deliver enough fuel?

And once it is overrun, at what point is a -6 overrun with e85?
How much bigger is a -6 line than the stock 1g/GVR4?

Thanks guys.

The stock line could quickly start becoming a restriction with E85 when you have high hp goals, as you'll need approx 30% more fuel vs. gasoline. You'll also have to remember that ethanol will eat away at aluminum after time, and that you'll need to run steel fittings if you upgrade. I'd also look into an internally anodized fuel rail, and ethanol safe regulator, etc.

Depending on your goals, you may want to upgrade the line. -6an line is not much larger than the stock line, but it is an upgrade. If your shooting for higher hp I'd run a -8an feed and return (-6 would be OK for return), ran with 2 Bosch 044 fuel pumps ran in parallel. But thats just me.

What are your goals?

I've run 26psi on a 3052 with stock lines with no issues. With that said, it probably isn't ideal. I think the biggest issue that you'll run into is fuel pump, you need quite a hefty fuel pump and injector setup to make big power on e85.

I’m running 51psi on 2150’s and keep getting debris in my fuel filter all lines have been replaced but I’m using the stock fuel rail. I think this post is correct and the stock fuel rail is slowly eroding and causing my small clogs because once I clean the injectors and the fuel filter on a 750 pump she’s back to normal. But that fine dust always comes back.

LOL yeah it’s an old thread but these DSM’s keep going!!

New PTFE fuel lines, fittings, new fuel cell, new 750pump, new magnaflow filters, using injector dynamics 2150,s

I also have a 2g pushing 35psi but I never have this issue with that car.

Only my 1g at 51psi is giving me these issues. Here is what the fuel filter looks like and when I put those pieces in my hand the turn into dust/sand when they dry.

I've had the goo, white chalk and weird pebble like items in my filter but not that.

That rubber or more dirt like?
Looks more mini rubber chunks like the filter is the issue maybe. I use Magnafuel SS element etc.

Magnafuel 7010 8an Filter
Magnafuel 7065 Filter Element

it’s almost both, looks rubber but when it dries it turns into this. Super strange.

I use magna fuel 7009 -10AN 7060-74 filter

I don't think that is the fuel rail (although you really should not be using the stock fuel rail at your power level) but I would recommend cleaning the tank? I had a lot of contamination issues with my GVR4. I did everything. Changed the entire fuel system AND had the fuel tank professionally cleaned. The issues stopped.

Thanks, I have the Jmf fuel cell and all lines new and it still does this. My friend believes it’s the injector dynamics causing the issue, I believe it’s the fuel rail. Either way we are switching injectors, running new lines again and will clean out the tank and install and aftermarket fuel rail. I’ll repost just incase someone comes back 8 years from now to talk about this again like I did.

Do you have foam in the fuel cell?
I think there is some in there but your question had me start digging. I never got my tank anodized and I read if you don’t get it anodized you have to drain the E85 or the aluminum will corrode after it sits. I’m betting that’s my problem as I leave the E85 in the car Always!!!
