I've read all the posts about which exhaust is better, and seen what people say is better about the o2 eliminator downpipes, but I'm still not sure EXACTLY what it is. Does it just completely replace the o2 sensor housing? If so, where is the o2 sensor relocated. Does an o2 eliminator have an affect on emissions? Thanks

PS - I thought I was putting this in the newbie forum...where it probably should be. Sorry

The name of them is misleading. It should be called a "combination downpipe/O2 housing"

That's all it really does, the O2 housing, and the downpipe are made into one combined pipe. There is still a bung for the O2 sensor in about the same place where it was before.

A lot of people will replace the O2 housing when putting on an exhaust anyway, so with a "Eliminator" style, it's just included with it.

Hope that helps,
-Jesse

and they are supposed to flow better than getting and o2 sensor housing and a downpipe seperate.

Yea, the name really is misleading, it makes it sound like the downpipe would just extend as one tube to the turbo outlet... Thanks for clarifying

I think, now that I read this i'm beginning to doubt myself.
the hard part is if you have emission testing and have to switch back to stock.

FourG63 has a good picture there of one. The part that attaches to the turbo, and the downpipe are just 1 part.

You can see that there is still the O2 bung on there.

But it won't necessarily make you fail emissions. All of the emissions stuff is still there, assuming you still have the cat. It depends place-to-place, state-to-state whether they won't let you pass with an aftermarket exhaust though. Otherwise, it should be just fine.
