Greddy Turbo Timer.. (old style)

a turbo timer is a turbo timer.. it doesnt give you any power.. this old style greddy has a bunch of features like these one ones coming out.. but i dont even use them..

i say.. get the cheapest one you can find..

I have the old apexi one. Never use it either, personally, I don't think they are worth the money. They are almost unnecesary.

i have the new greddy one that's silver with the blue backlit display. Got it brand new for 85bux shipped with the harness for a 2g. can't complain about the price, it does what it was made to do, plus a couple lil added features like voltage monitoring, times 0-(400m...etc), i like it and it looks cool at night i think. And i still luv it when other people ask why my car just died when walkin away from it. install was cake, im happy with mine, but i really wanted the apexi pen size one, but i wasn't gunna pass up the deal i was gunna get on the greddy one

damn bro.....that's a great deal for your tt. Like RedTurboEclipse said, a tt is a tt, what you usually pay for are flashy lights and accessories. I'm picking up an hks type 1 tt for 45 (used)

i knew you guys would agree.. dont pay more than $100 for a TT..

me612.. u got a good deal for urs on ur new sytle greddy..

and i dont think about it anymore.. but it still amuses me and puts a smile on my face when some random person just starts looking at the car cause its still on when i walk away.. wat got me one day was when this cute girl i know tells me i left my car running.. LOL.. then u know how it goes..

me: "oh it will turn off by itself.. turbo timer"

her: "ohhhh"

- car turns off -

me: "see told you :)"

hahaha.. amusing..

I paid 30 for the pink hks TT Then painted it flat black. As it turns out this TT is really cool and has all these features I will never use like a voltameter, digital tachometer, memory features and a neat flashing display(its under the dash). The retail on this thing is like 150, and there is no way in hell I would pay that much for it.

Gene-
Do you think I should make this one of my projects, homemade TT?

I got the apexi tt, i paid about 75 for it and 20 for the harness, but it's worth it because this timer allows you to see o2 sensor voltage, a/f ratio and battery voltage. plus its small and discrete :

Dang Guys,

Use your TTs. You've gone through the time and money to install the TT and now you claim you don't use them? Why not....

Are you guys aware of why they are used? If so, I think one could justify using the TT for 45 seconds after you've pulled into your parking spot at work/school.

I'll get off my silly little soap box now .. carry on.

Oh, and uh .. a TT is a TT. Heck, if someone can patiently let their car idle consistently for 45 seconds after a drive then that's even cheaper.

I got the HKS type 1 thats the one that has the 1/4mile, 1/8 mile, 0-60, voltage & RPM warning. I have yet to tap into the ECU to get the speed and time functions working but the timer works great. One thing though if you have a good aftermarket alarm(one with starter kill) the alarm wont activate until the timer is off. I got a auto-on feature on my alarm that automatically arms the alarm 1 min after the car/TT shuts off.

I've got the greedy, looks good, and I've had no problems. Only time I don't use it is when I'm leaving my car in a parking lot, cause when the turbo timer shuts off on my car this unlocks the doors (does it whenever I shut off the car).

I have the old style greddy TT, set at 1:10.
I heard it shows voltage too, anyone figured out how to get that reading?

hold down the select button for a couple of seconds... it will beep at you and say something like "VO" or something on the display... then it will display your current voltage... :) i use it all the time... btw, i also have the greddy tt (old style)... and love it and use it... heh...

I had one on a lot of diff cars.

Not getting on for this car.

I really don't care to have one.
It's my race and I will cool it down when needed.
I will cool it down when I know that I'm beating on the car or on a long high speed run.

It never hurst to have if your not patient enough to cool it down when you need to.

If you have a TT already or can get one for real cheap then you should use it. But there is no reason to spend hundreds of dollars on something that does very little. DSMs use water cooled turbos and many last over 100k without ever being TT'ed. The only time that it's really necessary is after "spirited driving" or high speed (highway) driving. And if you use synthetic oil, there is even less need for a TT.
