which upper IC pipe for 2G?

Would you choose

RRE

Dejon Tool

Greddy (no throttle body replacement)

Others?

Also is the new greddy type RS a new BOV? what happened to the old type-S? Does it recirculate?

I have the GReddy intercooler piping kit with a GReddy Type-S BOV. The setup has worked great for me. One thing you might want to think about though is are you planning on upgrading to a FMIC any time soon? If so, the piping route might be different (e.g. short route) so you won't be able to use the upper IC piping with the new setup. Of course, this isn't always the case... for example I plan on purchasing the Hahn Racecraft FMIC for my 2g. This front mount uses the stock "long route" so it will work perfectly with my upper GReddy piping.

As far as the GReddy Type-RS BOV... yes, its a relatively new BOV. It was made to replace the GReddy Type-S. In all honesty, the two are fairly similar in function and form. One thing to note is that the old Type-S could be recirculated with no modifications, but the Type-RS requires an adapter to recirculate the BOV. Anyways, for what its worth my GReddy Type S has worked flawlessly for me. Its a solid BOV up to ~25psi.

I haven't tried the RS over 19psi yet, but I'm sure its the same as the S. If you've ever heard a Type-S, the RS is alot different. My RS is not very loud at all compared to the high pitched S.

Why dont you just go to www.ssautochrome.com and send them an email asking them if the group buy is still on? Tell them you a member of dsmtuners.com. I think it is still on, the kit cost $275 shipped? (Correct me if Im wrong) It comes with the FMIC and all the piping you need including upper. Great Deal, I love mine.

If I had a Greddy BOV, I would go with Punishment's IC piping kit. Full upper and lower piping for $139.

My first suggestion would be to go for the SSAC XS kit for the 2g. It comes not only with upper and lower ic pipes, but a huge proven core. Also the ic pipes are short route, and bigger diameter then all the ones mentioned already that are long route. Definitely inferior.

But I understand everybody has different goals.

I have experience with dejon tool, greddy, rre, etc.

The greddy serves for easier install because it doesn't replace the TB elbow. Also a nice standard finish that doesn't look bling if you are trying to be low key. But the blue couplers will have to be replaced. Not to mentioned I believe their couplers are rubber and inferior to the ones included with the other kits. Which are nice heavy duty multi-ply silicone. Also some will mention the sharp 90 degree bend that connects to the smic.

The dejon tool, I've used several times on a few 2gs I had. Nice product, you have different choices of powdercoated colors included. A while back they even included new tb bolts, but I'm not sure these days. The silicone couplers are much stronger, but they seem just barely long enough so you have to install them with the utmost preciseness. They are also on very tight, so when come to removing them, it might be a struggle. Some will complain about the very thin tb flange. I've never had a problem with it myself. Smoother run of pipe where it connects to the smic compared to the greddy.

RREs is similar to dejon tools, but requires that you cut your stock hose and use that as the coupler. I am speaking of the pipe that connects to the tb to the next pipe with the actual bov flange. Only 1 choice of default color finish. Despite the awkwardness of having to hack up your stock part to use with the new one, the TB flange is much thicker, and if I can remember, the pipe diameter seemed a bit bigger than the dejon one. But don't take my word on it. As for the pipe with the bov flange, its almost identical to the dejon one.

All of those brand NEW will cost around $225 shipped I believe.

Of course there is Punishment racing's ic pipes. ALMOST the best deal of the bunch. The $225 price I mentioned for the other brands DO NOT include the lower ic pipe. Punishment's does. Nice chrome/polished finished. Silicone couplers, etc. And of course the best value considering the price. Almost $100 cheaper and you get more.

I say "ALMOST" the best deal, because here is the same thing, for cheaper:

That's the winner. eBAY again for the win.

Thanks everyone's reply especially RedTurboEclipse wow you have used all 3 of them?

I have been through many setups on my DSM, just redoing everything for daily driving now. I already got a HRC FMIC, it runs to the stock location (long route), I was trying to use my plastic stock upper pipe (going to smog it) but the 2.25" FMIC pipe won't go into there no matter what so I am looking for aftermarket .

RedTurboEclipse: I am very interested in the one you linked is it 100% same as punishment racing or just someone on Ebay weld these together? I am all for Aluminum and TIG welds and the price.. I am all for stealth but I need to get something so I can run the car right now.. I can always paint it later.

It mentioned same as Hahn racing UIC pipe so I am very interested, because it should fit well with my HRC FMIC then? Although I go to HRC and don't see they list a UIC pipe for 2G DSMs anymore?

Yea I run the one I showed you on ebay on my beater. I checked HRC prior, because it said its identical. But it looks like HRC doesn't even make ic pipes anymore.

But from the looks of it, its IDENTICAL to the Punishment Racing one. Down to the couplers/clamps/finish and even price. Being on ebay makes it $10-20 cheaper.

Most fmics that route back to the stock smic location, will mate up to ic pipes that also route there. You should have no problem.

Thanks, I need this quickly (I am in CA too) this seller is a standup guy right?
Are you using some kind greddy BOV on your beater (another 2G??), does the stock recirc hose fit nicely?

The type-S is discontinued right? Do you think I would have any problems with the newer Type-RS? I have run anything from 1G bov, turboXS, Tial but never a greddy... flange is still 100% identical right?
