I am wondering if anyone has delt with Delta. I know they are re-grinds but only some companys have a reputation of the lobes wearing down over time.... So has anyone had experience with em and how it turned out.

PS: I dont want to hear everyone start bashing this or saying just buy HKS or what have you, I already own some HKS 272's, My brothre is getting his cam reground by them and im curious. :thumb:

I know of about 10 people running delta cams in their toyota pickup for years with absolutely no problems. Regrinds generally aren't any less reliable than stock cams, depending on the process that is used. FFWDconnection is selling regrinds, I am not sure about the process they use, but I think they grind the cam on the side without the lobe to reduce the base circle then regrind the lobe to the profile they want. Since the cam is slightly smaller in diameter I believe they shim the lifters to make up for the difference. I think delta spray welds their cams, which can be successful if done properly.

Yes they do spray weld the cams, unless damaged or cracked then they atcually tig weld it to repair. hey also check to make sure it is perfectly straight and they coat it and polish the bearing surfaces to help with break in process.

about eight years ago a place called delta camshaft i read about on the d series honda forums was interesting.bullfrog was one of the only cams you could get for the d series non vtec engine.since i had a turbo single cam i tried one of these cams out as they were the same spec as the bullfrog for a fraction of the price.these are regrinds so before you say regrinds are bad read up!for $80.00 shipped to my door i received one and installed it.the bullfrog if i remember was around $280.00 i think.the cam was awsome for a single cam with a nice but not to bad of a lope.after being involved with dsm"s for over six years i called them up and asked if they made any 4g63 cams and to my amazement they did and do!they make 272"s off the hks but a little more aggressive and they also make 280"s.for $190.00 shipped you get some nice cams that we have been running in three cars for over two years now with zero problems!i put a set of 272"s in the mirage today so check them out very nice people that will answer any questions for you about the regring theory or anything else.

You mentioned that these grinds are a little more agressive than HKS 272s. What does your cam card tell you:

Cam lobe lift?
Valve timing @ 0.05" lift (BBDC, ATDC)?
Duration @ 0.05" lift?

For what centerline are these specs (what is the 'straight up' install centerlines for each cam)?

I noticed that you have adjustable cam gears. Do you plan on tweeking them? I think we (I know I) would be interested in your results from adjusting the timing for these grinds.

I have delta camshaft's the 280's in fact, and I run them both I/E on my 2.4L and I paid about 190$ shipped. I will never buy a pair of 600$ plus cams when I can get absolutely the same result from good ol' regrinds. I do not remember the specs of the cams other than being 280's but I will tell they make a mean lope at idle and have great mid and top end all the way to redline. Needless to say they work flawlessly I would recommend the cams highly for the money you cant beat the quality.

i live hear in washington and called delta and thats the route im going to take just simply ive had deltas in a civic and never had a problem and now they quoted me 95 a piece for any grind i want take them to the shop and come back in like 6 hrs they said and they are really knowledgeable!

^ Did you ever get cams from them?

I know this thread is 2 years old, but the cam card I got with my Delta 272's aren't aggressive at all. In fact, they are the even less aggressive then the BC 272's. They have less lift and duration then the BC's (272's).

I just got cams from them.I put them in and timing was off and bent all my valves.I ordered a remanufactured head,a headgasket, and some arp's today. So whenever I get all my stuff and put it back together I will let you know about them.

^^^Damn bro.

Did the valves damage the head? Normally all you have to do is replace the valve guides/valves/seals which is around 250 bucks including machine work assuming you put the head together yourself. Arent Reman heads expensive?

Anyways,

I will be buying a set of these for my DD 97 gst. Mucho interesto.

Nah the head was 305 and the headgasket was 60 just stock composite then I got me some ARP's.I want to get it running its my DD and I've had to drive my dads truck I hate relying on other peoples stuff I miss my DSM.

The car is much faster. I highly recommend these cams. It lost no low end power at all. From
4500 to 8000 rpm it just takes out. I find myself bouncing of the rev limiter. Its a automatic to i'm sure a 5 speed would really rap out fast, do to the less rotating weight.:thumb:
