I have heard mixed reviews on the A1000. I have one right now that we were planning on using in our project car. We already have a fuel cell. Car is track only, going to be running 2.1 destroker motor, gt40r or 42r.

Just wondering what you guys think we should run for a pump in the car. Should we stick with the A1000 or go with something differnt.

Thanks.

I've heard the same trash talk about the pump, mostly from muscle car guys, but they can't recommend anything comparable that's better, so I dunno???

i need to hurry up and get on dsmlink LOL. or order mine! so i can search it while im overseas.

not to hijack but would be be a safer bet to run 255intank and a 255inline or just the bosch -044

I run a 255 in tank feeding a Bosch 044 in line with -8an lines. It is enough to support 600awhp on e85 so that means it will do alot more then that on race gas.
I think the main concern abot the A1000 pump is that it doesnt flow as well at the high pressuers we run (ex: 38psi base + 35 psi of boost = 73psi of fuel pressure!) The Bosch 044 is well proven and excels at these high pressures. It seems like the A1000 was intended for big power N/A cars or Boosted cars not running that much boost (Big V8's).

[Edit: Darn it, Luke beat me to the punch. ;)]

Dare to compare. First, read Aeromotive's flow information for the A1000. Then, take a look at the 044's flow rate.

"1000efi hp" doesn't mean anything when you're talking about a high-boost application like ours; most of those "1000 hp" applications aren't running more than a few psi on a blower. Read over Aeromotive's documentation; while they claim the ability to hit 1100hp on forced induction applications, they don't mention what fuel pressures they're referring to, and their own published information is pretty clear on the fact that they never realy intended people to push more than 70 psi on the A1000.

Assuming a base fuel pressure of 43psi, and tacking on 30-40psi of boost on top of that (or more, depending on your setup), and you're at 73-83psi of fuel pressure when you hit the gas. Notice how the A1000 isn't doing so well at that level, dropping to what looks like around 300lbs/hr of flow; consider that 1600cc/min injectors are (usually) 150lbs/hr Ford injectors, and there's four of them (so, 600lbs/hr at 100% IDC). Even at 80% IDC, you'll still be looking at 480lbs/hr of fuel that the injectors can supply...but the pump definitely can't. (Whether you'll ever reach those duty cycles on 1600cc injectors is a separate discussion, though. ;))

Going one step farther: if you look at the page for their Eliminator pump, you'll see that while it kicks ass at lower pressures in comparison to the A1000, it's only slightly better at the fuel pressure we care about, and it's damn near double the price ($425 from Summit). You pretty much have to step up to their Pro Series pump for the output at that pressure to start looking really good, which triples the price ($600ish from Summit).

Notice how the 044 is in the middle of it's happy place at 5 to 6 bar? (Astute observers will also notice how the pump is damn near linear in fuel output.) You're pushing almost 4 litres/minute at that point, which is a really nice match for a set of 1150cc injectors, and pretty damn good for 1600s. Now, consider that for less than the price of a single A1000, you can buy two 044s and run them in parallel if you find you need more fuel, and get a little redundancy for free.

Jeff's absolutely right: they're a no-brainer. You've got an OEM-application pump that happens to flow an unbelievable amount of fuel, for a great value. But hey, the Aeromotive pumps look pretty. ;)

There also seems to be alot of issues with the A1000 getting hot in DD application.

is it possible a wally 255hp intank, and a 255hp inline would be enough also?

I personally would go for a Weldon pump for a drag car. For a street car the Bosch 044's work well.

street/strip pump best scenerio would be

1.255intank w/ 044 inline
2. 255intank w/ 255inline

sound about right?
