Hi Guys,

Whats the difference if you use the boost source in the intake manifold-BOV vac line and using a pressure line on a nipple coming off an intercooler pipe after the BOV?

Ive always see DSM guys use the intake manifold-bov vac line. Whats the reason? Why not just use a nipple of an intercooler pipe after the turbo as boost source so you dont need to T and cut the BOV vac line?

What are you meaning by a boost source? Every intake part of the engine is a "boosted source".

Lots of people use the BOV line for a wastegate source has its disadvantages (the topic has been beaten to death)
The best way is to go from a compressor nipple to the MBC and to the wastegate. Short, Sweet, and Gets the job done.

Now if your talking about a boost gauge, then you need to be tapped into the intake manifold so it can see the change in vacuum/boost as the throttle plate changes positions.

Thanks for the quick reply absolute_DSM.

Sorry, I didnt make it clear. I was talking about the boost source for the boost controller.

So, is it ok to just run a vac hose coming off an intercooler pipe before the BOV and after the intercooler? The nipple from the IC pipe is between the BOV and IC.

The best pressure source to use is one closest to the compressor housing, preferably a nipple that's in the compressor housing or one in a J-pipe or lower intercooler pipe.

If you see most DSM'ers using the BOV-IM line for a pressure source, then "most DSM'ers" are doing it wrong.

The intake manifold source is the strongest, and the BOV in line is the easyest. You can also use the fuel pump vaccum located next to the clutch reservoir on the firewall. Its on VFAQ.

ok. Theres a nipple on an intercooler pipe before the BOV. Im using it right now, is it ok? I dont have a nipple on the J IC pipe after the compressor housing.

Yeah, that's fine.
