egt gauge

i just got my autometer egt gauge and it says to hook it up to the o2 housing instead of the manifold. just wondering if that is the best way.

hook it up to the #1 runner on the exhaust manifold.

Yes, #1 runner on the manifold will give you a much more accurate reading.

My readings seem a little high.(1400-1500 at 75mph cruising) I have my probe in the #1 runner, exactly 2" from the head. Anyone think that its too close? Thanks

My EGT is mounted in the #1 runner 6" from the head (if you measure along the runner). The EGT Temps at 75mph are about the same as yours 1400 -1500.

I found a few install guides on where to put the probe. One said exactly 2", & another said between 4" & 8"(RRE). I guess if you have about the same readings, I'll just keep an eye on my gauge & make sure it doesn't go too high. Thanks for the info!
