Punishment Budget Manifold

I thought it might be new because I couldn't find anything on it. I know I've heard of punishment alot on here as well. The only thing is I noticed the runners were not same length like the DNP or the other higher priced tubular manifolds but looked like they still did a good job. I guess the equal length runners wouldn't be a big deal unless you were an all out racer.

Punishment is the shizzel, they make higher priced manifolds that compete with any of the other higher priced manifold. There budget manifold is out sorced and when the get it they go over the whole thing... they reweld the whole manifold, port it and clean it all up. I am very wary about the fact that they outsource the manifold but knowing that they have a good reputation I am thinking that it must be a good peice. Also they give a lifetime warr. on it to the original buyer and they are a good company so you should be good to go.

I just picked one of these up... The price was 189 shipped OMG...

I took some pics of it..

I would say for the money it cant be beat.. Ill be hooking it up as soon as I get it jet coated. So power wise we'll have to wait. Im not sure it will be a big difference but it sure looks a hell of a lot better then the 2ng gen I have. Im sure it will sound better also. My cars a weekend warrior so I wont worry so much about support. Even tho, I plan to fab up some more support for it so I dont drop a 2500$ FP30 series setup from under my car.

Let me know what you guys think !

Well not really... As far as I know when punishment gets it they recheck / verify all the welds and reinforce it as well. If they are seeling this thing with their name on it im sure they'll do a good job of making sure it works. on top of that it has a warranty.. so no and yes. Id rather spend the few extra bucks and get this.

I was looking on there website and I don't see a budget one like yours set up for external wastegate. I wonder if they can make one or do I have to go with the $700+ one?

The T3 Flanged one has provisions for an ext. W/G.. If you want the mitsu flanged one, seeing as they do fabricatin there, i wonder if they'd throw one on for you for a fee..Im sure you'd still make out on price. I think it's worth an email at least.

Tim Croft emailed me back and they do not offer that manifold with an external wg option at moment. It was worth a shot though.

Sounds like bs to me. Reinforce what? the welds? doubtful. Now if they bracked it, sure it's worth the extra but I doubt a vendor on ebay will sell one that needs the welds checked out. If it leaks they won't sell it.

Haha man you have a lot to learn about ebay.. Lots of people sell crap on ebay. Lots of manifolds are sold on ebay that crack and break. I've even seen turbos that were glued together.

Not that I don't believe punishment on this, but the Mitsu one looks ALOT like the ebay ones that you can get for dirt cheap...?
Probably because it is.. They get them and re-weld them.

Now thats how you run a business! Buy something off ebay for 70bucks and sell it for 190 with your name on it. Give it a warranty for a year and if anyone has a problems spend 5mins fixing the leak.

I can sh*t in a box and put a warranty on it. Sound familiar?

You are missing the point that they re-weld it to make it stronger. Wasn't that said above? It's not different than selling a stock o2 housing that is ported. :beatentodeath:

I deal in customer service for a living...I dont deal with 200 dollar parts either... more like a half a million. Just because my company is willing to fix something that breaks doesnt negate the fact of things breaking all the time...People would not be happy with shit in a box that had a warranty.. knowing the warranty is there is just the icing on the cake..knowing your getting a good part from a (key word here) REPUTABLE vendor is why you buy it. I put a little more faith in companys that have excellent reviews like that.. and If I can spend a little extra cash for sense of security I WILL !!!!

Ok so your telling me, punishment gets the same ones from ebay and "inspects" them or rewelds them and sells them for a higher price? If you believe that your dumb IMO.

Then dont buy one. thats pretty simple. Everyone's entitled to their opinions and I wont flame you for stating yours. Im simply saying I trust punishment and their business choices. Obviously they havent gone too wrong so far. :thumb:

for information on the t3 mani.. its been rewelded in weak spots . they braced the whole mani. then they fix the fitment issue of the wastegate positioning .

usually these mani's would hit the powersteering . by the looks of the pics . they cut part of that section and weld it closer for proper clearance. also they ACTUALLY have a WARRENTY. they repair in house.

good luck getting an ebay company to give a warrenty. they may claim it but ever try getting ahold of them for a claim .. ha.. u have a better chance getting ahold of the president.

bottom line is . punishment racing is a top supporting vendor. they support the dsm community. i would never hesitate to throw a punishment part on my car..

also for reference . i dont even own a part from them and back them.. though i might be making some purchases soon.

Not that I don't believe punishment on this, but the Mitsu one looks ALOT like the ebay ones that you can get for dirt cheap... and the port work on both the collector side and head side still looks not-so-good to me. Could you post up some more detailed pics?

It is essentially the one off of ebay... I would love to post better pictures, unfortunately Im limited to my iPhone to take pic's :notgood:

The one thing I have found wrong with the package though.... The bolts supplied to mount the mani to turbo are not the correct thread pattern..simple to fix and again otherwise happy.

You're still paying $190 for a product that has a pretty hacked port job from what i have seen. Oh well I guess this one is not for me.

Has anyone talked directly to punishment about this manifold? I'm still trying to decied if I should go with this manifold or an evo 3.

I sent a couple of emails to Punishment and got replies from them pretty quickly and promptly about it. After I get meth in my car, the manifold will probably be the next thing to change. Will be opting for this one or the FP Race one depending on my financial situation.
