well for some reason my ssqv will only open when i hit full boost and let off and i just get major compressor surge while driving, thought maybe the lines were clogged or bad but after i replaced the intake with a sheet metal one and replaced all vaccum lines it still wont open so im just going to get a new tial blow off valve. My question is which spring should i get? They have many different kinds but what size spring would be best for me since i have crower stage 2 cams? If that makes a difference. At idle i sit around 6-8 vaccum.

I got the softest spring, 7lb. It doesn't matter since you have a MAFT setup. If the BOV opens under vacuum it won't affect anything since it's before the MAF. If it's too soft for you, you can use some spacers inside it to stiffen it, I tried some for the hell of it and using about 1cm worth of spacers you can make the BOV stiff enough to surge at anything below 10 psi. With just the 7 psi spring, it blows off at anything, and I mean ANYTHING. If you rev the car to only 1500 from idle, the BOV will open. Once again this doesn't matter since your MAF is after the BOV.

sounds me me like you have some other problems only sitting at 6-8 vaccume. have you boost leak tested your car latly? also, are you sure your timing is correct?

have you taken your SSQV apart yet to see that everything is working properly? i have rebuilt a few and they are fairly simple...

timing is one, ive had no issues with timing the car has been driven for months now, ive checked for leaks many times and ive always made sure the system can hold the pressure. ive heard that sitting at low vaccum at idle with cams is common?

When you say youve rebuilt many ssqv what exaclty have gone wrong on the ones youve rebuilt? What do you replace/what are you looking for when you take them apart, ive taken all the allen bolts off except one because the nut is stripped but ill probably just get a dremel and grind it off so i can take the very back piece of the bov apart today
