So i finished putting my car back together and got a new megan racing exhaust, upgraded from apexi, the full O2 housing back. So i first put on the DP and i can't fit a socket around the nuts to put the DP on tight, not a problem i can use a wrench problem solved. Then i put together the rest of the exhaust and then the problem occured about a day after the install. The exhaust is torquing the hangers so much they are hitting my drive shaft. The reason for so much torque on them is because of the way Megan designed the exhaust and put up it's hangers. Now i'm f*cking pissed because i have to figure out a way to get the exhaust to not rub the drive shaft. If any one has any input for me that would be great but as far as my impression with the megan racing product, it is the only and last product i will ever buy from them because of this nightmare. :notgood:

take some pictures of what your talking about !

I have put several of these exhaust on AWD's and a few FWD's without any problems

but with good pictures I am sure we can figure it out

I have no idea on how to post up bip maps or what ever they are called but i figured out the problem. The flange on the adapter piece is wrong causing the exhaust to torque to on side when fully tightened. The hole are off about 2 inches but i can force it into place and when i do so the exhaust the torques it self to one side. so we'll see how megan handles this bad assemble and go from there.

Megan never got around to fixing the 2g awd dsm exhausts, they've always been shit and will always be shit.

SO i contacted megan on tuesday on the phone and sent them over pics of what the problem was. I told them specifically what the problem was as well so they wouldn't have to think about it to much. it is now friday morning and i have still not heard back from them about this issue. maybe they will call me back later on in the day but their really isn't that much for them to ponder. as i said before :notgood: for their products and customer service isn't to far behind.

I've been dealing with Megan Racing since they started. And have ever only had great products, and service. These guys know what they are doing. If it was me I'd call till I got a response. Or go down there. But thats the good thing about being in SOCAL. Good luck.

I heard that they expect you to drill out the holes for thier 02 housing, when they don't fit. SS Autochrome had a similar issue, I have since steered MANY auto enthuisist away from SS Autochrome to include Honda/Acura and Nissan owners. I only sent one guy to them, because he annyoed me so much. They deserve each other.

Yea maybe you got good customer service because live nearby but the service they have given me so far just sucks. no other way to put it. I couldn't wait for those retards to figure out they sent me a defective piece because that obviously takes alot of brain power so i just cut the flange at the weld and am going to reposition it on sunday and hopefully get it welded on monday and back in the car on tuesday. And you know for the price you pay you really don't save your self that much money because this kind of aggrication isn't worth the whole $150 i saved by going with the megan exhaust over the buschur racing. Thats what i get for conforming to the "typical DSMer", always trying to take the cheap route.

Sorry to hear about your problem. I understand how frustrating that may be. I had an issue with them once but maybe because I live in SoCal they respoinded quickly and took care of my problem. I'm sure if you keep calling them back they have to correct the problem for you. After all they want your satisfaction. Or atleast I'd hope so anyways.

I have a 1g so I don't know how much relavance this has to you but I had the same issue and I found it to be that the old rubber bushings that the hangers slide through had somehow gotten all twisted around on mine so I just repositioned by scooting them further down the hanger and since then i've had no issues.

Hope you get your problem solved.

Are you serious? You're bitching because you had to use a wrench instead of a socket? I'm suprised that you're not complaining that they didn't tell you which size wrench to use.

BTW, if you don't have a torch, put it in a vice and put some herk on it.

Well, we just (1am) got finished bolting the Megan 3" downpipe and 3" catback onto my car. We spent most of our time trying to extract a broken bolt from the turbine housing. Anyone who bolts turbo parts together without using antisieze should be shot.

So about the exhaust... Everything is great, except the hanger on the midpipe (with the resonator) is completely 180 out. I mean, it really should be cut and turned 180 to utilize the hanger location. We'll be doing that tomorrow or sometime this week. I'll take a pic and post it up.

In case anyone was wondering and was still considering an internal wastegate dumped to atmosphere - don't do it. It just sounds like an exhaust leak. Pure shit. I'll be getting it re-routed to the DP or something. Or I'll just buy a POS ssautochrome O2 housing. Yeah.

Oh yeah, the ricer fartcan has to go to. Magnaflow 17189 or 14221 here I come.

Hanging an exhaust is cheap and way easier just taking to a muffler shop. Considering there is usually some kind of problem with fitment with any exhaust system, I find it much more convenient to pay someone $100 to hang it, as well as cut/weld any neckdowns out of the system. Especially if you are matching a dp and catback between do diff companies' products.

Like the O2 to DP flange...

Honestly, hanging it wasn't that bad at all, it was just one hanger that they welded on backwards, so I ignored it. Between the lot of us, there's somebody that can weld for beer. I'll take it to a muffler shop when I need bends cut and welded into it so the new muffler will line up straight, not like a damn ricer fartcannon.

You mean my o2/dp leak issue? My problem there wasn't fitment, but the cheap gasket I was using without rtv. I swapped in a truck metal gasket with steel o-ring insert with copper rtv and that solved my problem. Sure I could have welded it at a shop but that sucks when you have to unbolt the o2 just to get the dp off.

I just prefer having a shop do it because I have yet to see an exhaust system bolt up perfect to my satisfaction. Especially when I prefer eliminating the bolted sections by welding them together so they can't leak. I also don't like any neckdowns, rattling, hangers in the wrong place, etc. If I had a lift and welding tools then I'd do it myself.
