yesterday i was about to race a 91 (older model) prelude. yes it was a piece of sh!T. anyhow, i never launched my car before, so i decided to do it. the light was about to turn green , i had my clutch down, revving up to about 4000 rpms, let go of the gas, and my car did not launch, instead... my car was moving kinda slow while my rpm went up to about 6000rpm. why is that?? then after that, i can smell my clutch. i still beat that car though, but i was just wondering why didnt my GSX lauch?

Your clutch is slipping. If it slips, you don't go anywhere. :)

If you plan on just dumping the clutch like that at stop lights, you will need a stronger clutch.

You'll also need to buy a new tranny if you keep up that kind of driving style...

Clutch Drop + AWD + ACT 2600 = broken tranny

Try slipping the clutch out at a decent pace when launching, see how the car reacts then.

i dont think the clutch is slipping. it launches alright when i rev up to about 3000 rpms. i'm not going to continue doing it right now because i dont want to f*** up anything, but from what i heard, i should get a ACT 2100 instead of a ACT 2600. which one do u prefer?? my car is pretty much stock except injen intake.

Im getting the 2600. I dont plan on racing at every stop light or doing frequent launching (except at the track), so Im hoping my tranny holds up for a while. I decided to go with a 2600 because of my HP goals and plans. I know a few people who have it and they beat on their cars quite a bit and its held up so far. Im hoping for the same result ;)

1) Your clutch is slipping. Not only does your car rev up and not go anywhere (which indicates wheelspin or clutch slippage and since you don't have enough power to spin....) AND you told us you smelled clutch. Why don't you believe you have a slipping clutch?

2) A 2600 ACT will NOT blow a tranny as long as you aren't a dumba$$ and do clutch drops all over the place. These cars are incredibly strong but they aren't invincible. In other words, learn how to launch.

3) What are your goals? What is it you want to do with your car? When you answer that, you can answer wether or not a 2100 is right for you.

why not go with the 3000lbs plus clutch, really make sure crush your trust bearing.i dont understand why people insist on running to much clutch.if it's for the car you have listed, 95 gsx,you might want to be careful going to a heavy clutch as they have a bad habit of crankwalking.thats just my opinion so go ahead with all the arguements everyone, because im sure this is going to start one.

Guys have gone 11's with the 2100 and the performance street disc from ACT. If your not in that territory then the 2600 is a waste of money. They do have somewhat of a harsh engagement. I have had both 2600 and 2100 in different cars, and the 2600 for my old application was overkill.

The 2100 will have smooth engagement and will hold lots of power, on top of the fact that it will not promote crankwalk in a 2G the same as a 2600 will.

i personally went with a light pressure plate (stock) and a 6 puck solid hub copper metallic disk, dont slip and has easy engagement.
