What they say being the operative word. If you want to spend 500+ bucks on an ignition upgrade you dont need be my guest. I am trying to give you some of my experience as a wiseman. What I have seen over the last few years of drag racing DSMs seeing what works and what doesnt. There are several people in the 10s on the stock ignition FYI. Make your own decision let us know how it turns out.Originally posted by 4g63tc
but they're saying the firing duration is longer than stock ensuring better combustion? wouldn't you need more spark/power under high boost / high fuel situations?
It doesnt or it doesnt make a $500 plus difference in spark. If I was doing research into a particular product I would find a car that was making the type of power that I want to make and look at their setup. Maybe I would take a look at a few cars at that level or maybe a bit higher and see what they are using to get a feel of what works and what doesnt. If you do that you would see that there is a lot of people in the 10s and 11s with no ignition upgrades. That shows me that the people that this product should help most reject it. What does that tell you?Originally posted by 4g63tc
does it or doesn't it work
Well you just might be able to infer that I bought it and realized what little good it does and want to protect my fellow DSMers from making the same poor decision. But in this particular case it was on the car when I bought it ad I got through just as many spark plugs and have the same ignition issues that people with stock ignition have. Its not just me either.Originally posted by 4g63tc
if there's no real benefit why did you buy one?
Spark plugs are pretty cheap. You would hate to see how often you have to change them on a car making close to 400hp on pump gas. Are you sure that it doesnt have something to do with your tuning?Originally posted by 4g63tc
ok thanks that's what i wanted to hear, because i semi wanted the dis to help with the fouling plugs problem i'm having like every 4-5 thousand miles. and i am using ngk but the oem plugs since i'm not boosting over 15psi.
I dont have a 2g but I dont think you would want to replace the swaybars if your suspension was other wise stock. The addition of shocks and springs made a HUGE difference in my car and there are much nicer/better solutions for 2g cars. I would take a look at the suspension forum for answers to your questions.Originally posted by 4g63tc
again thanks the money can go to suspension. any suggestions on sway bars?
Fantastic suggestion I will be setting these up shortly with my Haltech. Thank you for the tip.Originally posted by GrocMax
Get 2 lead coils from an 86-92 RX-7. Turbo or non, they are the same.
