K, I know there's already a thread about a JDM swap goin on just a few posts under this, but I wanted to make sure I got everything I need before I start this. I'm only gonna have a week or two to do it, and don't wanna get stuck without having a part. If I don't finish in that week or two, it's gotta wait 3 months..

Anyways, I bought a 90 Eagle Talon. Right now all it's got in is the bottom of the motor. And there's a nice big hole in the block. So that's getting trashed, but the oil pump is still on the motor, and looks salvagable. Also, the front differntial is there, as is the driveshaft, and the rear differntial.

I'm buying a JDM motor, tranny, and transfer case from a friend of a friend in Toronto. A bunch of the honda guys around here have done swaps with motors from him, and all have been good engines.

Anyways, I need to know what I need. So far I've got this list...

Cam Angle Sensor
Thermostat Housing
Water Pipe - Below and Behind the exhaust mani...
Power Steering Pump
Compressor Outlet Elbow
Oil Cooler - 90 DSM

NGK Spark Plug wires - Longer so they'll fit the JDM motor.
Spark plugs
Belts, and fluids

That's what's on my list, plus I'm going to be getting a ACT 2600lb clutch, and debating on a balance shaft emliminator kit. I was just wondering if you guys knew of anything else I should get, just in case...

Oh ya, it doesn't have an ECU in it right now, and I'm lookin for one at the moment, I know it has to be a turbo awd manual 90 ecu, but is there anything else I should look for? Thanks...

If you're planning on building the car up later, try to get an ECU with an EPROM in it.

Ignore the post above about oil squirters; the issue with needing a JDM ECU is related to the Cyclone intake (the US domestic ECU does not have the required electronics to control the intake hardware).

You'll want a bunch of hoses (replace them all while the engine's out) - get the Larson kit from RRE and then go to the dealer for all the water hoses.
Get a fuel filter, as replacing it while the engine's in is a #####.
Flange gasket.
Transmission output shaft seals.
Motor mounts.

Just a few thoughts.

Wrong. You want to keep the 90 ECU because of the Speedo issue. If you don't know what the speedo issue is, maybe you should click the little 'search' button. :D

If you want to make the install as painless as possible, unbolt the JDM intake and throttle body, bolt on your stock intake and throttle body, and install the damn thing. It will drop right it.

Well, I bought the car without an engine or tranny. So I don't have the stock throttle body and intake. But, I've been reading a lot about the Cyclone intake manifold, and have a few ideas on how I might get it to work, ghetto rigged, but working.

Anyways, thanks for the advice...

The JDM dual runner intake is a waste of time. Just get a 90 TB and regular 1G intake manifold. Word to the wise: JDM in the DSM world means nothing. Good luck.

The only other reason you might want the JDM ecu is if the motor comes with a 16g and yellow top injectors..(510cc)
It will work with a 90 because the JDM ones are the same. I am using a cycone on my car now with the JDM coils, my car is also a 90.
I will most likely be switching to a regular intake mani and tb.

i have a jdm engine with the cyclone intake and my original ecu works perfect.the only problems i had was the fact i have a 1990 model and in 1991 some of the engine harness was changed.the jdm motor copies the 91 theme.all of the plugs a triangular in 91 .the plugs are square in 90.coil pack, dis module,ect....getting the stock ac compressor to fit was a trick bcause the intake is larger but it will go.i had to change a couple wies from dis module also.hope that helps

So I should be lookin for a 91-94 ECU for this thing then? Since the person I bought it from ended up sellin the ECU too.

And I'm not getting one with the 16G and yellow injectors. The guy I'm buying it from knows the difference, and would not give me the deal he's giving me if I got one of them . :)
