2g pistons on 1g rods

O.K., I keep reading about putting 2g pistons on 1g rods. I also see that machine work is required. Where can I go to find out what kind of machine work? Or, can anyone tell me what is involved? Also, stupid question, should the bottom end be rebalanced after this swap or are the two different pistons close enough in weight that this isn't an issue? I only ask because I really dont trust any of the machinists in my area and the less stuff they touch the happier I am.

Here is what you have to alter the get them to fit on. I would suggest getting them balanced.
