Hey guys Im going to be intstalling a cut of cut on switch for one of my slim fans. I Just wanted to make sure that I had the wiring correct.
I would ground the fan to the car!
Then I would run a wire from the + side of the battery and into the car(cut off switch)
Then from the switch run another wire to the + fan??
I was going to use one of the autozone switches
thanks

Well first thing I would say is that you need a fuse in there between the battery and the fuse closest to the battery as possible. Second, although you can just run the wire to the fan on some switches others tend to melt due to the fact that they cannot handle the current that will be running through it, so it is often reccomended to use a relay.

Thanks man. The reason im doing this is because Im have a problem trying to get my fans to run. To my understanding Im suppose to connect the 2 power wires together and the 2 negative wires from the car? The wires are right, I used a test light to find the 2 powers! Then when I connect the + and - from the car I can hear clicking coming from the passenger side of the car:confused: The fan comes on but its only in real low speed?
Wanna take a shot on what might be the problem?
thanks

I'm running an EVO VIII fan right now and I controll the fan with a switch inside the car. All you need to do is run a wire w/ a fuse to the fan. Run the ground inside the car to a switch. Then to ground. You will need to get a 30 amp switch from Radio Shack or you will fry the switch with in a few minutes. Also make sure you have the fan spinning in the right direction when every thing is hooked up  . I hope that helps.

BTW it helps cool the car down quickly at the track with the engine off and the fan running.

*edit* Make sure you use at lest 18G wire. I also belive the blue wires are ground.

You wouldn't happen to have a diagram for dummies would you for me or others?

Just as a word of caution I don't think it's a good idea to have it running to a power source that is always putting out power even when the key is out. You may just forget to turn off the fan in a rush and come back to a dead battery. I wired my fan into the cigerette lighter that way I don't have to worry about remembering to turn off the fan, but that's only because I have the memory of a rock.

Why don't you just wire it to the stock wiring?

Thanks for the info guys I found out why the fan wasnt running! I blew the relay and replaced it. Now the fan comes on when I turn the ac on.

Now I need to hear from the guys that have the fan wired to come on automaticly when it gets a certin temp. How would I go about wiring the fan to do that?
thanks!!!!

If you wire it into the stock wiring it will come on around 200 degrees.

they actually sell at kragens (normally stocked) a adjustable auto on/off switch for fans that has a temp. probe that goes into the radiator. I used to have one on my old car though it is difficult to tell without a accurate gauge what temp to have it turn on at.

That comes stock on a 1g.

Thanks
So I dont do nothing with the 2 wires that pug into the radiator huh

If you take a look at your stock fan there are two wires coming from the fan motor. Cut the wires and remove that fan sub-harness with the little box, from the stock fan. Connect the two wires you cut from the harness and connect them to your new fan. Plug the sub harness back into the chassis harness. That's it.

I'll throw a dig together today. From what you have benn saying you fans maybe onit's way out and just swapping the fan should fix it. For me the wire harness was the problem ?ie: blowing fuses with the fan disconnected. Yes you can kill the battey doing it my way/ My wife did the 1st time she drove it to wor. I' work on the dig and hopefully post it up today.
