I'm coming closer to the point in my engine build, that I need to decide on what turbo I'm going to get. I'm going to Forced Performance for whichever it may be, but want something more than a Green.
The guy doing my build-up with me is actually putting together another GVR4 with a Red. But that's just a bit bigger than I'm looking for. It is after all still a street car. Therefore, I think to optomize for my goal, my best bet would be a Garrett.
After talking to someone at FP about it, he recommended a 60 trim T3/T4 with a stage3 and a 63 a/r housing. This would put me right between a Green and a Red. I'm hoping to squeeze close to 540 or 550 hp out of the engine with that turbo on C16.
I just want to know what all of you think of this particular Garrett, (those who have experience with it) and if you have any other recommendations.
Thanks.

MAybe you will have more options if you don't limit yourself to FP only....

Or: you could maybe have FP custom make something to your liking? Kinda seems you already got some help with that.

There are a few reviews of T3/T4 hybrids kicking around here... hit 'da search button.

Well, I am speaking in terms of FP only, because my choice would be either a Green, a 20G, or a Garrett. I have heard basically only hearsay of problems with the ball berring turbos, but it is only that, hearsay. Even still I feel better going with something that isn't so new, as the ball berring turbos. Basically recommendations I would be asking for, are those of a Garrett combination turbo and if anyone here uses the same combination as the turbo I last mentioned.

That turbo will make alot of power, but will have some lag, may not hit full boost until 4000+rpm.

I would have to recommed something other than a DSM. They are sooo old!!! I can't believe every one of these cars haven't been junked yet!

That's expected. Also, that's fine, as long as it pulls a good amount harder than a Green once full boost hits.

It will. The Green uses a .50 trim compressor wheel in the smaller TDO6 housing. NOT KNOCKING THE GREEN AT ALL!!! It's a great turbo. But the t3/t4 will make more power, especially with the larger TO4E compressor housing and bigger .60 trim wheel. As long the lag is not a problem you will be happy with it.

Yeah, I bet it would be really funny if one these "old junkers" sent you and your GrandScam back home to mommy with a tear in your eye. OMG

Why don't you post some pics of your ride so we can all see what the future holds for us.

Well I'm looking to get the most out of my setup, with forged pistons and aftermarket rods, so though the low rpm boost would be great for the street, I would be more satisfied with the high rpm pull of a larger turbo. Let me ask you though, what is the difference between that particular Garrett, and a Red? Don't they both have the same sized wheel? Or is the Red a 60-1, and if so, what is the trim of that? I was under the impression that it was also a .60
