Was looking to see some pics of O2 mounted external WG's on 2g's and who's O2 housing you are running. I'm trying to figure out clearances with a Koyo rad & fans, thanks.

Is there a certain setup you would recommend for this? What manifold and dump I mean.andymoraitis said:Daren,
I'm sure you already know this, but by running the wastegate after the turbo on the O2 you may have creep issues (please note the fact that I said "may" and not "will"). For proven rock solid boost, you can't go wrong with a manifold mounted external. Eiher way, it's 10 lbs. of crap in a 5 lb. bag.
Just my .02,
Andy
A 2g manifold or a evo manifold is a great cost effective manifold and has stood its test in time. Send it out to a vendor and have them drill a hole and weld on the wastegate flange and your all set. Or you could pick up a new style SBR manifold that is already cast with a flange for a tial 38mm wastegate.destruckeclipse said:Is there a certain setup you would recommend for this? Sounds good. I was actually just browsing the SBR website and was looking at their manifold and tial package too,project_tsi said:A 2g manifold or a evo manifold is a great cost effective manifold and has stood its test in time. The 38mm tial is also a great wastegate that has stood its test in time. To me, the tial 38 is like the little engine that could. It takes whatever you can throw at it, then laughs at you and begs for more.

Reference post 48 for my setup. It works great and is much quieter than a dumped external.

daren_p said:Thanks Andy, that may be just what Im looking for. Looks like off the mani I will have enough room for the Koyo and maybe even the stock AC fan? (if not I can always get a Spal for that side) From what I've seen it looks like I wouldn't have any clearance issues with one of the PTE bolt on turbos with the E comp cover (5031RLE, 3431RLE) & still running the stock main fan. How long have you run your setup & have you had any issues with cracking? (wouldn't think so as it should be a solid assebly) I wouldn't think your reroute would disrupt the exhaust flow any worse then an external WG O2 housing as they usually dump basically 90 deg back into the O2 housing & this happens maybe 6"s away from the turbine wheel.

Perhaps someone could help me out (one of this photos shows this small extension between his WG and the manifold mount). I tried searching the gallery for "external" and "gate" but did not come up with the one I wanted.

A lot of companies use a "mid pipe" off the mani and they havent really complained about it so...

94Jettameowpsst said:Well maybe im not judging how long of a midpipe you're talking about. http://slowboyracing.com/more.php?id=3546&
OBX has the midpipe
AMS's 4294 manifold as well as most other large frame turbo manis have the wg about 6+inches away from the manifold.
Maybe thats not what you meant then
