High whistling turbo

I just installed a t25 turbo (directly from mitsubishi) on a 2g, the owner blew up the original turbo so i installed the turbo same exact one, new everything, however this turbo whistlse like a bi*** when it spools up, its extremly high pitched, its not leaking oil and it creates boost and spools very fast. any idea why its doing this? ive installed turbos before but never a brand new t25, always have been aftermarkets. the fins on it were all how they were supposed to be to and its not boost leak

hey i know exactly which high pitch wistling niose you are talking about. my turbo does that on cold starts, it goes away after it warms up. also the fins on mine are fine and no leaking oil. but then again mine wont hold boost over 17-18 psi

well the owner of this car is a female shes not going to race it, shes not a tuner she jsut had a blown turbo, but jesus i cant figure this out worth a damn, i know its not right.

You have checked shaft play, and bearing issues if there are any? Im assuming its new, mits sometimes likes to send people "re-manufactured" ones, that have shaft play and have blown seals. Its happened before.

The t25 does scream like a diesel.

High pitched, yes. Esecially if there's a hard intake pipe on it.

Scream like a desiel, no. Not even close.

My T25 never sceamed. But once that 14b got thrown on oh my I sounded like a jet. Check for shaft play. If it building and holding fine don't worry about it unless she has a problem with it.

Check the feed line to make sure it isn't pluged in any way. Screaming usually will be caused by starvation of oil. Caused by a plugged or restricted oil feed line.

yea thats a good sound for it.. sounds like a screaming jet, i double checked vacuum hoses and intercooler piping again, and there all fine. im guessing its starved of oil or the wastegate isnt fully shutting.

im guessing its just the fact that the old one was bad and made no noise, now she notices it ALOT more

Yeah, like I said the garrett turbos do make quite a bit of sound. The mitsu family of turbos are very quiet by comparison. The jet sound is probably totally normal, I used to imitate a diesel truck with mine like I said.

Ive got that problem with my turbo.. ive been told and it does sound like a girl screaming... from like a 1/4 mile away.... you can hear it all the way down my road.. but two of the fins on the inners on the cold side were broke off so the turbo is unbalanced and screms like crazy.... still makes decent boost..... not perfect but sounds cool... ive got a new one waiting for it.

If some of the blades came off you need to get that turbo off your car. As in yesterday. It the rest of it decided to let go it could cause alot of damage. Including your motor if it got through the intake tract to the motor.
