I hear occasional talk about people running supra side mounts and was wondering a couple things. About how much do they cost? How much better do they flow than a stock 1g side mount. Basically, I want people's opinions, preferably of people who have run supra smic's, about whether or not it is worth the time and money.

New i'm not sure, but u can get a used one pretty cheap. And they flow a lot more than our stock IC's. But I "hear" u have to do a lot of cutting to make it fit properly. But if only plan on running 12's or haveing 400hp then they are great.

I use one on my 2G - I bought it used from another DSMer (Who upgraded to a front mount) for the average price of $150 - this was out of a 94 supra. Its about 3x bigger then the stock intercooler and works VERY nice - my intake charge temps are a LOT lower. Instalation was a #@%#@%#@%#@%#@% in all honesty. I hear its easier on the 1Gs - For my 2G we had to cut out the sheet metal under the filter and shorten the upper intercooler piping to get it to fit properly - we also had to "slant" the K&N filter to get it to fit with the upper i/c piping. We didn't really go by the faqs found on vfaq.com but it took us a few hours - we could do it again on a 2G easier this time since we learned a lot from the previous experience :)

All around, its a very good and very cheap alternative to a $800 front mount or $600 Hahn SMIC (which is actually smaller).

I sold my supra side mount to another DSMer for $200. The stock 2g dsm side mount flows 205cfm I believe where the MKiV Supra side mount flows 495cfm so it's over double the size. They fit with only a few modifications that any true dsmer will be able to do with no problems.

Other than it's still a side mount intercooler, it's pretty well the best one plus the cheapest price around for a side mount. They are pretty descent for the money for sure.

I like the power, but i think i will be going with a front mount for next season. Clovis - They are NOT easier to install on a 1G. The 2G has a ton more room and it actually looks OK. On a 1G it will push the bumper out so far that your paint will crack. It depends on what kind of sacrifices you are willing to make to save some cash.
