So I almost replace all of my exaust system parts in the car exept for the O2 housing. I have an Evo 3 manifold coming and I have a Dejon exaust starting 2.5" going into 3"
So I was looking at different types of O2 and wondering which one was the best way to go, also I am on a budget.

1G port
2G port

there are aftermarket one, some recirculate and others have an external dump tube

Will running the external dump create a lot of noise, i am guessing this will but this would also flow better at open throttle

Is it worth going to this instead of a recirculated O2?

Another question I have is will a O2 housing that has a 2.5 inch outlet fit onto an Evo 3 turbo. I bought my downpipe with an 2.5 inlet and I should have waited so I could get the 2 3/4 inch.

you will get so many different opinions on this one. As long as it isn't a 1g housing, you are doing good. Personally, I run the ssautochrome (no dump, because I don't like unwanted attention). It has proven itself to be a good investment (under $100).

Evo 3 will bolt up to a 2.5 inch downpipe, and its pretty damn big.

I've had good luck so far with a ported 2G housing. There are lots of nice options available - just make sure that your downpipe bolts-up to the housing you choose. From what I understand, the angle of some aftermarket housings differs slightly from the stock unit where it bolts-up to the downpipe.

So what I bought was an 2g o2. There is only a slight difference with the 1g and the 2g O2 housing is that the 2g is at a little bit different angle then the 1g. However the Evo3 doesn't look like it would work at all.

As soon as it comes I am going to port it out. Any helpful advice for this?

Also For some odd reason I am still curious about the atmosphere drop. Is it really noisy when those open up? Also is it when the car is only at WOT or full boost because thats when it would open up I believe. I kind of want one but maybe I should wait till I get a bigger turbo.

So for an exaust system I have a ported Evo 3 manifold 2g O2 housing and a cat-less 2.5"-3" exaust system.
This should work to spin that little 14b shouldn't it?

Or do people think I should have went with the atmosphere dump? Should the ported 02 housing be just as good as an aftermarket?

First, a dumped o2 isn't going to help control creep much at all. It's just really loud. It opens as soon as the WG flapper opens when you hit full boost. IMO they are too loud.

I think the 2g o2 was a good choice. They're cheap, last a long time, and you can port the crap out of them and get just as good of flow.

As for how to port. . . Please search a bit. There's MANY threads on here about how to port your manny, o2, and turbine housing.

But to begin you this quest i shall link you to vfaq's porting section.

Go to porting, click on 2g o2.

I will soon be using a 2g manny (ported), a new 14b turbing housing (ported), and a 2g o2 (VERY ported). I'm expecting noticable gains from all 3 of these as they are the lest restrictions left in my exhaust system.

You are going to have to let me know how that works out for you. I plan on porting everything (o2 and turbo housing) this weekend. I can't wait to see how the turbo reacts to this. Plus I am sick of boost creep!

As a side note I am also interested in seeing how much that 14b will take. With all my mods I should be running a bigger turbo but I wanted to max this one out first for the fun of it. (plus I am kind of broke for a new turbo) There will be very little to no turbo lag with this much flow. :sneaky:

The 14b starts blowing hot air after about 18psi.

So many options with such a little piece!!! OMG Well man it just depends on your setup, your info doesn't say what ya have. I'm personally using an Evo III (unported). Before I had that put in I was with the stock (unported) 2G O2 housing, and the downpipe I had (Megan Racing) didn't line up, but that apparently was common for the AWD kits. So I had to use the air hammer on it, but it is all lined up now, and I didn't have any problems when putting the Evo III piece on.
So without any experience with the hogged out 2G o2 housing I can't tell ya what's better. I've read that a ported 2G flows a bit better than an unported Evo III, but again, almost everybody will give ya a different answer or have heard something different than the next person.
As for the dump, I would say just do it internally. Don't wanna rice out the system too much! :p Well that's my opinion. Good luck!
