How do you replace a 1g window motor

To get it out you have to open it up so now I have a spring that I have no idea at what point to reset it in relation to the window.
Of course thats pretty irrevelant when it looks impossible to get the cables wound tight enough around the pulley without sticking it so far in the door you can't get your hands in there and theres no way to get the motor drive put on the pulley and also the spring.
This this is FUBARed! How the heck do you put it all back together

Also I fried whatever fuse is on the power window swtich. None under the dash or fried so wheres the power window switch fuse?

Why did you pull apart the motor?

Getting the motor out is super easy otherwise. You shouldn't have to pull it apart though. Just get a new motor and track and throw it back in.

And your fuse if probably fine, it's more than likely the switches that are bad.

How do you get the whole thing out with out taking it apart. The cable runs out of that spool and around the pulleys on the window and the cable doesn't come out. The replacement ones come with the place where the spool goes

When i got a new motor, it came with the rail and cable already installed on it.

All i had to do was pull out the old assembly (which comes right out of one the holes in the door), slip the new one in, and bolt everything together. It was real easy.

Take pics maybe so i can help more. I'm failing to see why you can't get it out.

i had to replace my drivers side whole assembly about 2 months ago. all that i had to do was undo a few bolts and then everything fell to the bottom and it all came out the big hole on the side of the door. putting it in was easy.

idk im guessing the drivers side is easy, but when i took out the motor in the passenger side, its a pain in the azz, it was nearly impossible to get it out without cutting the metal for the motor to fit through the holes

Probably the stealth, . I've got a buddy with a 92TT and that thing is nuts to work on to do ANYTHING.

Just putting on a 1g BOV was like pulling teeth.

Well theres the motor thats held on by two screws which is easy to get out, but the whole assembly with the gear the motor turns, the spool and some stupid little transister is a PITA.

Autozone or Advance or one of those places shows pics online of the whole thing if anyone cares.


I've found the only way to do it is to pull the glass out so you can take the whole center track out along with the cables and motor in one piece and then assemble the new one outside the car and put it back in through the hole.
The designer needs to be shot. A simple gear and tooth setup is sooooo much simplier.

Too bad by the time I figured this out the cables got crimps in them and won't spool right

Still can't find a burnt fuse for the stupid power switch though. Sure its something obvious but right now I need to hurt an automotive engineer over the whole thing.
