Lights still dimming after Alternator

Hey guys
I installed a new OEM alternator a little while ago and everything seemed to be fine.

Fast forward to last week and im tightening the belt a little more cause i notice using the window makes the lights dim again.

Last night i notice that the blinker, brakes, and rear defroster being ON make my radio shut off.

I checked the belt today and it still seems pretty tight.
am i missing something else?

the battery is a year old or so but thats also a year old on a dying alternator.

any help is apreciated.

I would try a battery that you know is good or go to an auto parts store, they will test your battery in the car for free. I ran across the same problem a few months back and a set of railroad tracks seemed to finish the weak battery off when one of the lead plates came loose, but i can't complain, that battery was 4 yrs old.

Turn the car on and check the voltage going into the battery with a volt meter, or go to an auto shop and they will probably do it for free if they think you will have them do the work on it. Your previous dying alt probably finished the battery off.

First things first, Make sure your terminal plugs are clean of corrosion and are tight. I had to end up replacing mine when I thought my alternator was bad last year.

and the winner is...


i went to 2 shops.
the first one said it was the alt but i wanted a second opinion.
good thing cause when the second shop pulled the red rubber cap back we both saw the POS (+ not piece if shit, but then again...) clamp spin on and almost off the terminal post.

bought 2 new terminal clamps and installing them tonight.

BTW: as soon as he tapped both clamps on te terminals i did the same headlight, brake test and the radio didnt even flinch.

I am glad to see it worked out for you. I didn't know what to do. I had a grounding wire kit installed and I just wasn't getting that much juice. I took my alternator back to autozone and it tested perfectly. So, I decided that the terminals were the best bet. And sure enough it fixed the problem.
