Im about to buy an intercooler and im trying to decide between the apexi front mount gt intercooler or an indy race core. Which one would be better? currently using a t25 setup but will be switching to a big16g and possibly down the road a 20g.

unfortunately I cant, some guy hit my car damaging my stock intercooler so I am forced to get another intercooler first but around a month after upgrading the intercooler I will be swapping the engine to a 6bolt.

Actually, I'd get the intercooler first anyway. No point in buying a bigger turbo if you can't use it until you get the intercooler to support it. However, you can tune the rest of your system if you get a larger intercooler without being forced to keep boost levels low - and you'll get the full potential out of the rest of your system until you can get the turbo. A turbo should be the last thing you get.

I have a 1G so I have fewer options, but I'd recommend looking at the GReddy, Indy, or Victory Performance's new one. I'll likely get an Indy myself for my car.

I have a 2g but i was only going to run it on a t25 for about a month and then i was going to be running it on a big16g.

Yeah, i'm having the same predicament.

I'm most probably going bigger than an 18g..I'm currently lQQking at:

-APEXi Skyline Core
-Victory Perf. FMIC
-Indy Race Core FMIC

Now with either the Victory Perf. or the IRC, I heard you cannot use the stock '97+ foglights..is this true to any extent? Thanks.

I have seen an install with the indy race core where the fog lights were removed. Im not sure if they had to be or not but that is a pretty big intercooler and most likely you would probably loose the fog lights.

I can't remember the answer to this one... why don't you contact the manufacturers and post when you get the answer so we all know for sure.

with our kit the stock foglights have to be removed. They are pretty useless to begin with. It's my understanding that the fogs have to be removed w/ just about every FMIC kit that I've seen.

Only with the '97+ front end. 95-96 the fogs have to go.

I would go IRC. I've seen about 5 of his FMICs, and every single one has been top notch, and worked amazing. No reason to skimp out. Get the best.

from wat i hear and read IRC cores are very top notch.. also i know they use shorter routing of pipes to the tb.. but again the greddy big fmic and apexi gt fmic are more than adaquete for most people.. and if you already have aftermarket ic pipes i know they will route back to stock smic thus not leaving them useless..

But if you dont mind losing the upper intercooler piping and you go with a fmic that is short routed to the throttle body you can then have custom piping made so you could put your intake in the same spot as where your your old smic was giving you a cold air intake.
