Dashboard lights glow

I just finished putting my car together about 2 weeks ago and i noticed on sat when i tightened my alternator belt that my lights are almost glowing on the dash. the head lights get brighter and then normal and keep on doing this for a while. no engine lights pop up as if the alternator went bad, but the speedo, tach, fuel, etc just glow. everything just glows for a while. then it will stop randomly and sometime start back up. The battery and alternator are brand new duralast, I guess thier not built to last, units and all the connections are clean. any one have any ideas?

If you have a multimeter double check the power to the battery with the car on and off ... should be between 12- 14 volts (obviously the higher of which being with the car on)

My best guess is that the alternater "thinks" the battery is discharged when in reality it's fine and is causing excess voltage.

Double check all your grounds and wiring harness near the battery and alternater, maby something will pop up.

..... or maby you just had a crappy battery/alternater combo before and your not used to seeing all the lights so bright ??

I believe the alternator should pump a constant voltage and just supply more amperage as the draw increases.

Perhaps your voltage regulator is bad. Not sure if it's part of the alternator assembly or not on these cars.
