2g downpipes and 1g downpipes,,

I posted asking this a few days ago and i dont understand why,, but the thread was rudly closed, although the ? was not anwsered.

i asked what the differences were between downpipes,, fwd 1g and 2g's, and also the awd's.
replys were left to "research" and "it doesnt get much simpler use the one for the car"

1st of all i have "researched" and have come up with nothing..
secondly, i understand they make fwd1g dp's for "fwd1g" cars,, and so on,, that wasnt my ?, my ? is, "What,, is different?"

in otherwards,, "how" are they different,(hangers bends ect.) and has anyone used then in a moddified form for a different configuration of vehical?

if i simply wanted to know "which one to buy" i would have posted in the newbie forum.

Good luck finding this answer I asked on so many forums. I finally found my downpipe on ebay for 165 shipped! Its ss and mandrel bend!! Look on ebay and search eclipse downpipe!!
I was told that on the fwd the 2g is longer.

on my awd 1g i just took off my Megan 2g gsx downpipe since i am getting a custom exhaust made for my new turbo.

Other than getting a pressbent catback made everything went in perfectly and it was on the car for about a year. There was not clearance issues anywhere.

if the 2g fwd is longer that would be fine,, i have no problem cutting and fabricating.

also thats cool about the 1g and 2g awd dp's im sure that wil be helpfull to alot of people.
anyone else have anything to add? anyone make a 2g fwd dp work on a 1gfwd?

I found this downpipe for a 1g fwd on ebay right now. Real cheap if you ask me

looks like the perfect size too,, i have a tubular s.s. 02 with a id outlet of 2.5 and i picked up a busher 3 inch stanless cat back cheap too. just need to figure something out with the cat to match the 3 inch ,, i have to keep a cat due to local inspection laws,, but it doesnt matter whats "inside" it,, they just check to see if it's there

i'd rather have something completly gutted also,,
i think ill probably end up making my own, get a section of 3 inch pipe and cut the factory cat inlet and outlet large enough to fit the 3 inch through and weld it in. long as it looks like a cat

cool,, thanx for the link,, looks like it would work terrific, however i dont know that it would pass my emmisions here. we dont have the tube hooked up to the tailpipe and have the gases checked, but hey check to see that a cat is there. although it says "highflow cat"

btw dsm,, i just picked up a dp from that place you posted a link,,
was a "make best offer auction" and i offered $115.00 and got it for that.
how was the fit and workmanship of yers? and is it a true 2.5 inch inlet and 3 inch out?
