I need a new set of longer spark plug wires since I went to a Magnus intake manifold and I have seen the coil-on-plug setup that most companies are starting to sell. Cheapest place I found so far was $299 from Dejon, $350 or so at Buschur and $438 at SBR. Does anybody know any other place that sells them cheaper? This is the unit where you do not need your stock coil pack anymore and you do not use spark plug wires. Also how would I be able to use this if I have to swap my plug wires to run properly since I have a 97 CAS in a 95 car. Originally with the wires I have to swap 1 and 4 with where 2 and 3 goes to get it to run properly.

why not make ## own for around $150ish?

btw being from Michigan ...are you on xceed?

A theory floating around is that having an individual coil per cylinder (a setup not originally designed for our cars) causes some dwell issues and can actually weaken the spark. A cop coil is designed for use with an ignition system witch can use up to 540 degrees of crankshaft rotation for dwell time and must only cross one gap versus a waste spark coil which is designed for use with an ignition which can use only 180 degrees for dwell and must jump two gaps. So, in theory if you wire cop coils into a waste spark system you are running coils on 1/3 of the dwell time they were designed to operate on.

By shortening the dwell time you are affecting the charge time of the coil affecting spark length hence the shorter than nescescary gap to stop misfires. Having misfiring problems when switching over to these setups seems to be a common occurence.

A CDI system fixes this by creating a much cleaner, hotter, controlled spark .

With out using an ignition control system to better drive the spark time you will have more problems with the COP setup then just using the OEM coil.

My friend is running a MSD DIS box that can split the spark pulses into 4 individual shots instead of the two fires that are usual for DSM.

Acell also makes a CDI system that also works.

I seriously suggest remote mounting the control box inside the car as heat will kill the controler quicker then shiz.
