I am looking at going with an RNR Racing Turbo-back exhaust system. Let me first give you some details about what I plan to do...

I am doing a major upgrade and trhe exhaust is part of it, The list of what I have done or have left to do within the next 30 days includes:

1) DSMlink (done)
2) PTE 680cc injectors (done)
3) Rewired 190 walbro fuel pump (done)
4) Turbo with exhaust manifold and 2G install kit from turbochargers.com (question about this below concerning exhaust)
5) Wideband O2 (To do)
6) Turbo-back Exhaust

Now to my questions/concerns. Since I plan on going with the MHI EVO III turbo and not the GT EVO III, I am concerned about the smaller wastegate and boost creep if I do not want to run at 18 psi and above all the time. For the exhaust I was planning on going with an RNR racing 3" SS turbo-back with cat(damn inspections). Will going with an O2 eliminator housing help with boost creep or is it a waste of $100 extra dollars. Can I just port the stock O2 housing and get the same benefit or is there a dramatic difference with an O2 eliminator? Also, is the SS a waste of $100 if I only plan on keeping the car for another 3-5 years? I do not want an external wastegate.

If you run an o2 eliminator you will wind up having the same issues that I am currently down the road. I'm currently running a mitsu turbine housing with an o2 eliminating d-pipe but am planning on upgrading the turbo big time very soon. However, it is going to take some fab work to either get a) the new o2 housing to bolt onto my current d-pipe, or b) replace my current d-pipe for an oem flanged aftermarket one.

My advice, get an OEM flanged 3" d-pipe and NOT an o2 eliminating one and just put a ported evo3 o2 on it. That way if you want to upgrade down the road you're set.

If you go with a non-o2 elim DP, check out RRE, or dejon. They have pipes set-up specifically to use with the evo 02 since it sits at a weird angle.

I agree with the above though, i would shy away from an o2-elim if you're going to move away from a stock turbine housing.

Let me see if I understand you guys. If I upgrade the exhaust system to a turbo-back O2 eliminator housing, my EVO III will not bolt up to it because of the angle? Or will I just run into problems later on if I want to go larger han the EVO III 16G?

Aluminized or Stainless? The muffler will be stainless no matter what. If I go aluminized, I would assume to be able to get at least 5 years out of it with no holes, am I correct. I do not live up in Ohio anymore, salt on the roads in the winter in North Carolina is a rare occasion near Raleigh.

No, what we're saying is down the road when you want to go bigger (because you will) it is better to not have an o2 eliminating d-pipe due to the headache it will cause you when trying to make an o2 housing to fit the different turbine housing.

Stainless, ESPECIALLY for the o2 housing. I've got an aluminized o2, and it's making stress fractures due to the heat cycling like its going out of style. I live in the south, no salt on the roads, and I've gotten 5 years out of mine. I'm definately going to go stainless if i have to get a new d-pipe made.

If it's worth anything to you guys that I have the d.p. that ascopel is asking about, I'd like to interject. RnR makes one of the only d.p.'s that is 1 piece from the turbo/wastegate to the cat area (no flange by the oil filter) so the wastegate dump can merge more smoothly (less chance of creep). That said, my setup has NO creep, no tedious porting, no kidding. It also fits great, and I can use any size oil filter. I will admit that I am running a little 16g w/a 34mm flapper, which probably doesn't hurt but the point remains, as even 14b's can creep without a bunch of porting.
I think the point about the angle meant that an evoIII o2 housing outlet flange is at a unique angle, & won't work & play well with most downpipes.
