Hey ya. I am ready to purchase my next mod. Yet I can't come to a decision on which one to choose yet.

Here's a list of my mods:

MSD 8.5mm wires w/ NGK BPR7ES
Logger
Apex'i Boost Gauge
HKS TT Type 1
Hallman Pro RX MBC
K&N FIPK Filter
1G BOV

And heres what I plan to install this weekend:

3" Extreme Motorsports/Thermal turboback
Walbro 255 Hi Pressure(rewired)
Aermotive AFPR
Apex'i EGT Gauge.

OKay I have narrowed down what I want to get next. Here are my two choices

1. Buy DSMLink and a laptop
2. Buy oil pressure gauge( the last hole to fill on my triple pillar pod) and RM sway bars.

Which choice do you guys think I should go with?? Or do you guys suggest another mod that I should consider getting?? All opinions are welcome.

I dont plan on upgrading the t25 until late this year. I still plan on getting other supporting mods before that. Like injectors, exhaust manifold, clutch. So a EVO3 or 50 trim is not in the near future, but during next winter I do plan on upgrading.

Maybe spend money on getting your port work done? (manifold, o2housing) I just think the money spent on option 1 could get you into the spot where you actually might need dsmlink.

Seeing as you don't really "need" the two, I would check things like tie rod ends, wheel bearings, etc... See if they need to be replaced.

DONT

-Even think about upgrading fuel on stock turbo. Waiste of time and money

-Upgrade to bigger turbo without getting your fuel done at the same time.

-dont put your pump in yet...

DO

-First decide what turbo you are going to get (very important),

-Start saving money, roughly calculate how much you would need to complete the project...then try to save money that you are going to save for parts that could go bad, by looking to find used parts, or new as cheap as you find.

-Upgrade your car so it would be ready to take the power that you are going to put on.

-Upgrade suspenssion, breaks, rims , tires , interior, gauges (these stuff will be always with you)

-Upgrade your trany

-Try to match parts as much as you as can, let turbo lead you thru it...

-Buy all parts first and put them together at the same time.

-Save money for internals, depending of the size of the turbo....You'll always want to maximize your turbo. so Dont say this "I"ll get big turbo but I'll keep at the low boost" - there is no such a thing.

- Get the DSMLINK

I'll keep adding

etc

With a 255lph pump and an AFPR, he could get DSMLink and get just about any size injector and still run like stock. This frees up the decision of turbo to suit whatever power goals he has, within reason, and still leaves enough room to upgrade later.

Granted, I haven't even started to tune with DSMLink yet and I've only had it for a month or two, but I can already tell it's going to be instrumental in enhancing the performance of my car. It's already solved one problem with phantom knock and has told me that my O2 sensor is dying. Just for the diagnostic and logging abilities of Link itself, it's worth it. My vote goes for DSMLink and a laptop to run it. Laptops are good for other stuff, too. :)

That's why is a lot of 4g63's on the graveyard.... Do it right, wait , your car wont like it...

How many times its been told here, that matching the parts is what makes your car last longer and performs better...

I agree with DSMLINK part, but that is still overkill for stock car

with DSMlink you can have 750cc on a T25 it doesnt matter. The tuning device can adjust them to run like 450cc. The only difference will be the duty cycle will drop significantly. As for the 255llph as long as he have a AFPR, it really doesnt matter. He can just set the pressure back to stock (43psi i believe).

DSMLink and labtop hands down, better to have the tuning devices beforer going big. Just my .02.

why would anyone tell him to get link as his next mod? Yeah its a nice and he will want it down the road but what is he going to do with it now? Theres nothing to tune...hes running stock 450's.

If you are asking for your next "mod"....ONE mod...it has to be the oil pressure. Thats going to help you out no matter what you decide. As others have posted you need to figure out what turbo you plan on ending up with before you go buying too many parts. Are you one of those types of people who want to have a new setup every year? or are you one of those people who is going to upgrade once and be content with your setup. What are your goals. You have to factor all of that in, as well as factor in your budget. Before you will have any real need for link you have to get some bigger injectors at the least. Those would really be better bought at the same time as they kinda go hand in hand at the moment. So again...advice...i would get oil pressure....boring as its only something to monitor but obviously very nice to have. Other than that...decide ## plans and goals, and save your money until you can get the injectors and link or injectors and afc.

He was simply giving us the 2 options he was contemplating. We all know that his next mods shouldn't be either of those.

I to would say go Dsmlink as well, no it won't make a huge difference right now but he can install it right now with no bad side effects, learn to use it & when he has the cash for the fuel system & then the turbo he can drop those parts right in as he'll have the supporting mods he needs. For the people saying DSMLink is pointless, he is in the process of upgrading everything so it is a good purchase to make now.

So I have it there and won't need to worry about upgrading later on. Agree on a alot of points you mentioned. What do you suggest miroelek I get??

So the majority of you guys are saying to get DSMLink right??

As I mentioned before: Suspenssion, gauges , bigger brakes, rims and tires... you dont wanna deal with this stuff later...they dont give any HP to car, thats why its hard to spend money for them when you're doing other upgrades that give you power...I have that problem now, I want 2.4l and brake kit at the same time, dont have money for both :(

DSMLINK will not have much use for you now, but for later when you put stuff together :thumb:. You can get it, just to learn basic stuff of tunnig and logging, before you get into real time fuel-timing-airflow adjustments. I love DSMLINK , probably the best thing i bought so far. Make it to be your birthday present ;).
