i just installed my boost gauge and when i turn on my car it goes from 0 to 18 vacum, i am like WTF it is suppose to stay in 0??

what do i have to do to correct this? what can be wrong??

To expand a little more on that. When you are not on boost you have vacuum(negative manifold pressure). When you boost you have Boost(positive manifold pressure) that is why off boost or at idle it will be in the neagtives.

Later,

also forgot to mention i test drive my car no more than 3 gear, i didn,t have over 4 psi of boost!! no way thats right. at what speed you usually get 14 psi

sorry man, i cant really understand what it is that u are trying to ask. other than when you start your car, the boost gauge goes into vacuum

also forgot to mention i test drive my car no more than 3 gear, i didn,t have over 4 psi of boost!! no way thats right. at what speed you usually get 14 psi

what does this mean?

My boost gauge when I mash the gas ansd I feel the tirbo spooling I see the needle climb until my boost controller regulates it at 18psi. then the needle is pegged there as long as I'm at wot. While I;m cruising my boost is only a few pounds because I'm not on the throttle that much. You need to to a full boost run and maske sure it's going to whatever you boost controller is set at or 12-14 if stock then to 10 by redline.

Later,

you smash the gas on idle or in gear? how much vacumm you show on idle? how do you exactly do that WOT test

Even if you rev at idle you will not show much boost since there is no load on the engine. As far a WOT it's no test just drive the car on the street slam the gas to the floor and make sure the gauge reads whatever you have boost set for.

Later,

ok man i try that tomorrow thanks. but tell me this when go half way WOT on 3 gear appr 4000 rpm what boost you show?

Well with my setup at 50% throttle in 3rd at 4k I maybe at 10-12lbs not sure. but remember our mods are nowhere near the same and your turbo spools faster than mine so yours will be different.

Later,

Yes, to reiterate, you will see no higher than about 12 psi at full boost if your car still has the stock BOV and the stock turbo. Please someone correct me if that's not right...

PS-- at idle, mine is at about -20 vacuum.

I recently installed a boost guage, and I only see 10 psi as well. While this is WAY better than 4psi, I still think it is low. Or is it? car is stock so far. I also tried zip-tying the hose that goes to the waste gate, but still it is 10 - 10.5psi max. Gets there quick, and all, but seems a little weak.
