Everything i have read tells me that the absolute first thing i have to do to my car is to get a boost gauge. Would it be worth it instead of getting the gauge, a-mount pillar, etc... to just get the Apexi Super AVC-R considering it give real time boost measurements and does boost controll. Also about what Price should i be looking at when i buy one of these?

Get a pod, boost guage and a Profec B for less money than the AVC-R. You won't want to be looking down at the AVC-R too see your boost. The Hallman style manual controllers work quite well too and are cheap.

you COULD do that I guess... but I wouldnt consider it a replacement for my good ol' mech boost gauge... those AVC-Rs (and all of the Apexis really) are kind of a pain to read sometimes because of glare... when it comes to important gauges (like boost, EGT, etc...) you want to make sure you can see them perfecly reguardless of lighting conditions... just my 2 cents.... plus they are really expensive for what you get IMHO...

Don't the electronic controlers have warnings?? Just set the warning a psi or 2 above what you want to run if the warning comes on let off. If it doesn't keep going. That is if you really don't want to buy a pod and gauge.

No. but you can get a Electronic boost gauge with peak/hold and warning.

Later,

i personally have never used an AVCR, but I know people who avoid them like the plague. They say its the worst electronic boost controller unless you want to pay a pro to set it up for you.

Like he mentioned, it is too complicated. For high HP FWD it may be worth it to use the varying levels of boost, but you don't need that fancy stuff on an AWD. Kinda like the Ronco ad, most people want to set it and forget it!
