I put in balance shaft plug and no rtv.it the mits rubber plug. Do I have to take it out and reinstall with rtv or have any of you guys just put it in there dry? I have the hard part toward engine the black part toward engine. Someone think taboo used to say put the rubber black part facing out.

Does that matter...? Trying to do things right..not sure can even get that plug out of there now.I do have a spare plug though if wreck that one.

I took some black rtv and went around the plug but didn't take the plug out to rv it. I will check on things to see if it leaks.

I have personally put the plug in with the rubber facing in, and have seen it with it facing out, so it really shouldn't matter. If you still have the front case off, you may want to pop out the plug and reinstall with some rtv.

If you use the rubber coated plug, it doesn't hurt to use some rtv on it to aid in sealing. If you use the aluminum or steel plug, you MUST use jb weld on or it will not seal well or even stay in the front case.

LOL, i used a bunch of jb welb on it. needless to say after awhile it just well cracked and the plug fell out one day.

bought another and used rtv and it fell out the same day.

now the whole damn whole is filled with jb weld type stuff. (dont remember exactly what it was) but i just filled in the whole thing with it instead of buying a new plug. it worked great compared to the others
