I know the most popular electronic boost controller for DSM's are the apex avc-r....anyone ever use the blitz I-D on a DSM?

I've used the Blitz on a car I installed it in (2G GST). It takes some getting used to. But after that, it's pretty easy. I think it's overpriced though, and you don't really need all those features. The Profec B is just as good for less than 1/2 the price.

Has anybody heard about the new HKS EVC???

I have the blitz SBC-ID and power meter ID installed in my DSM

i like it because you don't have to tap into the ECU wiring...its independant and all you need is power. unless your running the power meter as well...then you'll end up having to tap into the ecu.

anyone have anything bad to say about the SBC i-D?

I'm running the power meter also.

I love the boost controller. It can hold up to 36psi. 4 boost settings.

Nothing bad to say about it.

the presets are nice, not to mention it displays both PSI and Kpa...i know the avc-r only has two presets.

PLus you can set it to always show your last peak boost.

Happy I have it...I owned both and i decided to purchase the SBC-i-D after my apex avc-r and afc were stolen out of my car. Sucked A$$, although i did consider repurchasing the AVC-R because i already had my boost solenoid, pressure sensor and wiring in place. oh well wanted to try something new.

The only think I like is the AVC-R lets you run lower boost by gear,
not by speed like the SBC-ID.

This is only if you have sucky FWD tho

gear vs. speed ... setting boost to either will both have there pros and cons...however, i do think setting boost to speed will allow better boost. where in the avc-r its basically based on what gear your in...i do see your point.

How would I work to set 2nd gear to lower boost on a FWD based on just speed?

Well my 2nd gear car reach 70mph lets say, but it would spin tires if I run 18 PSI, lets set boost controller to like 15 PSI below 70 mph.

Now I'm in 3rd gear but below 70 mph, I punch it and I still get 15 PSI, not ideal..

Setting for speed is only good if you drive it like you're drag racing, the same 0-100 everytime.

Your right...its just preference and application. I can see why you prefer the AVC-R over Blitz. I just prefer the Blitz controller.

The instructions I have for the SBC-id pretty much suck. Can someone tell me where the in and out ports go on the Valve. Im assuming the in port goes to the wastegate actuator and the out port Tees of into the BOV, is this correct?

You know I'm starting to wonder about that myself becasue my boost controller is not controlling boost.

Right now I have the "OUT" port going to the wastegate actuator and I have the "IN" port going to my boost source. But now I'm not so sure.

Well that's not good, try switching the hoses and let me know what happens.

After reading a few installs on turbo cars on other sites it seems I have the hoses hooked up properly but the thing will not control boost. I have the controller set for 17.5 psi.but I will not go that high. It stops at about 16psi. and they only reason it went up to 16 was becasue I put more pre-load on the internal actuator for my turbo.

That's wierd, maybe there is something wrong with the wastegate actuator, either that or you have a massive boost leak. I doubt the Valve broke but you never know. Maybe you should try hooking up a MBC and see what happens.
Good Luck

I did have a huge boost but that should be fixed. I will try turning up the gain for better boost repsonse maybe I have it too low.
