I got this bov and there was something clanking in the back of it...So I took it apart and noticed a little piece in the back was just flopping around in there. (PIECE IS OUTLINED IN YELLOW IN PIC 1 )...this pic also shows how it goes together ( RED LINE ). After getting it all together the problem I had in the beginning is still there its flutters nomatter what and my car acts like its venting.

Has anyone ever heard of this problem?

Also has anyone ever removed the spring from the back?

This happend to me:

First off, I have to ask is this an authentic HKS ssqv or a knock off? I was just wondering because the part you have outlined in yellow I do not remember seeing when I dissassembled mine (real HKS). Also if you look at these diagrams I do not see that part anywhere. http://www.hksusa.com/products/more.asp?id=792
I would not suggest removing the spring, I know you can remove the adjustment screw at the back and put some jb weld over the hole but thats all I would recommend. I believe that HKS doesn't even have the adjustment screw on the newer models just because it didn't really do any good as far as changing when the bov opened and closed.

Mine was there when I pulled it off and it's a real SSQV. The bolt goes into that on the other side of the gold spring retainer and can adjust tension on the spring. It can come loose very easily, so that's probably why you found it in there at random.

Thanks for the responce guys but this Fu(k*in thing is pissen me off..
Im a pretty smart guy and have realized that my car would stumble and almost die when ever I blew off and heard the LOUD flutter + compressor surge....

Now after having it all apart I did a retarted thing.....I tore the seal between A and B out. ( pic one here )

Im having some trouble figuring out how EXACTLY this bov works.

Theres a seal between A and B that lets boost into B when under boost, but when in vaccume the seal gets pulled over the hole and seals off A from B...I dont understand why.

SOrry if this is confusing but im kicking my self in the head over here. Ill make a paint diagram really quick.

PIC 2, where I pilled the seal from....the red arrows show where the air goes IN under boost but under vaccume the seal gets pulled over those holes. THe GREEN is an outline of how big the seal was in the underside.

Ok well after a long night of thinking and whatnot I have made a new seal for the raer end out of a button and RTV. It lets presure in but now out. I was looking at the bov again just now and I need you guys to tell me something. The piece I have outlined in yellow...was that glued or secured to cylinder that held the seal? Thanks guys

No, mine was floating like you described. I tightened it down to the adjustment screw and everything is just fine on it now. I think that HKS should be contacted in this situation if you really want to know what it's for.
