I just went to the track the other weekend for the first time. My 1/4 times were HORRIBLE, but im going back this weekend and should be running alot better now that I know how to stage and what nots. But the thing is, at the beginning of Third gear, my EGT top off at 1600 degrees!

I know I need a better egt guage that can read higher, but I just wanted to know if I might have damaged something. Is there a way to richen the a/f ration withough a safc or dsmlink type thing?

Thanx

That is dangerous it should be at or abouve 1600F th richen without AFC or dsmlink you can get a B&M FPR. It can raise fuel pressure to richen up but you must have at least an upgraded fuel pump.

It all depends on where you put the probe. If you put it at the turbine inlet/collector, yea you'll see almost 1800*. In an exhaust mani runner it will be much lower.

At the turbine inlet, my car will cruise at 1550-1600 down the highway under light throttle, and shoot to 1700 under power. This is normal.

Production cars have 1600* temps at the turbine inlet all day.

You guys seems to have forgotten about knocking that cause the EGT shoot up. Mechanical noise can be mistaken as knocks if the KS picked that up. That happens pretty frequently especially at the beginning of shifts. Can I say lifters tapping??
