ok, i don't intend to hit the track often, maybe a couple of times so i can get some #'s for all of you fanatics...;) i just want something that can hold it's own against most of the other cars on the road and still be daily-drivable. this is a basic list of stuff that i intend to do to my car (all stock, just bought it in june) in the next couple of years, the approx cost (i plan to buy used when it won't sacrifice quality), and approx order. it just came from a few moments of thought without any brainstorming. each year will probably be done all at once at the beginning of summer because my car will be in storage all winter and i will be acquiring the parts all the time it's in storage.:thumb:

*year 1*
dual stage boost controller 90
3" o2 elim, no cat exhaust 900
boost gauge 25
egt gauge 25
2g mas 50
supra pump 150
act 2600 300
2g throttle body elbow 50

*year 2*
fmic 1000
super afc 400
660 injectors 200
2g pistons and rings 450

*year 3*
2g exhaust manifold 200
new turbo, undecided about which, probably bigt28 killer 800?
wastegate (depending on turbo) 300
blow off valve 150

*after turbo*
lightened flywheel 400
lightened pulley kit 250
lower about 1"
lighter rims and very sticky tires
new gearing...

i would really appreciate some feedback about this list from those of you that really know your dsm's. if i should get something done earlier, or later, and if i missed anything, please tell me. as you can tell by my time frame, i intend for this car to last me a long time. if there is anything that you recommend doing to ensure a long happy life, don't hesitate to tell me. pm's and emails would be appreciated so i have something to keep on record for future use.

You won't be able to use that 2g MAS untill you get bigger injectors/afc combo.

I also wouldn't worry about doing 2g Pistons unless you are doing an engine rebuild anyways, stick with what you have till you blow it up (that's my motto).

Your list seems a little out of order. You can probably get away with keeping the stock fuel pump even when you up the boost. Your price on the 2g MAS seems a little ok make that lot off. I haven’t priced it recently but doesn’t just the MAS cost more than that much less the new intake pipe and the other stuff? I would skip the egt gauge and if you are crazy about gauges get a real oil pressure gauge. You forgot to include a gauge pod in your prices. What dual stage boost controller are you getting for under 100 bucks? Other than that things look pretty good. I would want to get the safc sooner just so things would be a lot better tuned but if you know what you are doing you should be able to get it close enough by hacking the MAS properly

I would move the exhaust mani to year one after the ehaust. I would also buy a turbo that bolts up to 1st gen 16g, 18g, or 20g( may need to reroute intecooling piping depending on what you choose.) Get a turbo with an internal gate and save your self some money. If you want one comparable to the t-28 killer then there is no need for an external gate.

i was advised by a couple of other people that i should wait until getting a new turbo before getting a new manifold.
it does seem like a decent idea to wait until i have an afc to put the 2g mas in, so that will be accounted for.
www.dejontool.com has a lo-hi for $90, switches between stock boost and a set level.
is it really necessary to get any afc until i'm going to get different injectors? first year is just going to be awesome exhaust and full boost on the stock turbo. i'm only replacing the fuel pump because i've heard that i can only run 15psi with the stock pump.
as far as replacing the pistons once the stock ones are useless... i doubt that would help my car last any longer...

thanks a lot

You should change the mani and port the turbo at the same time if you want to see what you can get out of the factory turbo. If not wait and do the swap when you change the turbo. I would swap it sooner though because it's not that hard to take the turbo off. You can also get practice taking the turbo off so when you get another turbo you can have it on in no time. I guess I just like working on my car to much.

i was planning on having everything on this car done professionally so i can be sure it's done right,OMG so changing the manifold to get some practice at removing a turbo wouldn't be the best reason to do it. once this car is done, then i'll start on something new that i can sell to some kid that wants a fast car for very little $$ (ie 13sec eclipse for under $2500).

not to say that i intend to have everything done professionally is set in stone... it all depends on whether i buy a full set of tools (just have the basics right now) by summer. maybe next winter i'll store it in my home garage so i can work on it, but this year it's in a public garage thing, and i can't get to it until some time in april... not good... but not bad for only $90!

i think my confidence in engine mechanical stuff will be reassured by taking car of the 60k mile maintenance on my forester this winter (except for the timing belt), that might change my mind about my talon... ah well... i digress a bit much...
