I know a lot of guys have the evo III turbo, and I also know a lot of guys are running it with 550cc injs. What are the best quarter mile times you, or someone you know, has accomplished with this combination of performance parts?

evo16g and 660cc

gsx
13.00@110.

i had terrible problem with shifting. I just got shep trany, water injection and 880cc, cant wait to go back to the track.

<----------- at 20-21psi 550cc's at that time, supra sidemount ic.

Rememeber that Shape was using 660s. You'll have to contact him and see if he did anything w/ 550s.

I agree that 12s are common w/ 550s, and an evo3 w/ a decent intercooler.

550s are probably not enough to get a stock weight 2g GSX into the 11s. Shape was at 84% IDC running an 11.8+ on an EVO3 16G. He was running 264s and 30 psi. The boost bled down to 24 or so and he was running race gas.

But. If you don't mind running 550s at over 90% IDC, it's possible. Because, at +90% IDC, there's enough fuel w/ a good 11:1 tune for 380 crank horsepower or so.

I went 12.5@106 with the stock smic and pipes. 660's will be needed for a car with a fmic.
why do you say that fmic would make much difference. FMIC doesnt do much....

Here's a link to Shape's thread on the subject. He was running a 272/264 HKS combo, and when he ran 550's his IDC was 104%.

 Straight from the thread you quoted: post #4.

I have a 6-bolt with 6-bolt rods and 2G pistons. Stock 1G head with HKS 272I/264E cams.

DSMLink with 660cc/min injectors. 550s were way too small. Aeromotive FPR with a Walbro 255.

Running 104% dutycycle is a good reason that you shouldn't try to take 550s into the 11s!

12.57 at 107.85 on a Big 16G (not an EVO III), stock cams and an upgraded sidemount. We'll see what she'll do on a set of Comp 200's and 26psi.

I went 13.02 @ 108 with a mentally retarded knock sensor, afc and no cams. I was getting a WHOPPING 6 degrees of timing advance. LOL oh yea and i had 650's.

Are you saying FMIC does not help that much.Without the fmic I saw 7-10counts of knock on a 14b at 22psi.Now with my fmic with the e16g at 24psi at the top of third I only see 2 counts of knock.Thats after a few hard pulls. The first few pulls 0 counts.

I was maxing out my 550's with the stock ic and pipes. The denser air from the fmic and higher boost means the 550's will definetly be too small.

i didnt say it wont help... But if you would take your car to the track, wait some time until car cools down and put some racing fuel in it...no knock no more....FMIC wont do significat increase in power with the small turbo(16g or smaller) .The best FMIC can decrease temp only to match outside temp. You are screwed if live here in arizona and you want to take your car to the track...

These are some damn good times. I'm getting my car tuned may 2nd at AMS and then i'm taking it right to the track for the first time. I'm pretty sure i can hit upper 12s with the following:
- Evo III turbo fully ported w/ 34mm wastegate flapper
- ADFX FMIC
- RC Engineering 550s
- K&N intake w/ injen pipe
- aeromotive fpr
- walbro 190 fp
- 2.5 inch greddy exhaust
- the rest is in my profile

Actually I was runnign race gas and was still maxing out the 550's. I heat soaked the smic after 1 pass at 24 psi and the car trapped 107 ( normally run 21 psi). I still don't see your logic behind saying that a fmic will not increase power significantly. How do you think people trap 118 or 119 with this turbo. Cams and a fmic.

Injectors have gotten so cheap just sell the 550`s and upgrade then to bigger ones.
You can get FIC 850`s for $280 shipped now.
Then you can run some 11`s.

LOL The good ol' SAFC and 850s combo . . . Making DSMers pull their hair out for years!!!

But I do agree that if you have the means to properly control a larger injector, there is absolutely no reason not to get the biggest you can find. As almost all 650-1000cc injectors are at least close in price within the brands.

Nice car/mods. I would really exchange the pump for a 255 and the inj's for 650's to get the full potential from the motor. I had the 550's with my evo3 and not nearly the mods you have and hit 100% IDC's at 20-22psi. mark
PS: Best of luck with the tune and time!

Isn't Andy's set-up great! Many less "moving/adjustable parts. Do your home wrok and have a chip burned with the data you learned. NO safc, NO maft, NO AFPR. NO FMIC install and pipe routing problems! Call me Andy! Mark

I didn't run 11s with the 550s. But I did run 118.02mph with them. Injector duty cycle was over 100%, and I was running race gas. The next time I went to the track, I had 660s installed.
