Ok, so I live in California and having a modified car is obviously a difficult thing to do. Sure you can have C.A.R.B numbers on almost everything and you should be fine. Well not us Talon owners. Every C.A.R.B number I come across is for Eclipse only and it must be listed under Talon. I know it sounds retarded but this is straight from the State Referee's mouth. Well I had an idea and I thought I would pitch it to you guys to see if its lame or if it will even work.
Trying to disguise modifications is actually fun. I have gone through and painted all of my intercooler pipes/intake pipe and bov a flat black. It turned out fairly decent actually. I am going to be cutting up an old intercooler pipe and using those as couplers for the intercooler pipes. The only thing I am having a problem with is hiding the air filter. Then as I started looking at the stock piece I realized that the upper portion of the air box is removable. Then It dawned on me that the 4 bolts used to attach the air box to that MAS can be removed from the whole air box. So I then attached the adapter plate from my injen intake to the inside of the top piece of the air box. The only problem I have run into is the outer diameter of the filter is too large to be re connected to injen adapter plate. So, my question for you is will a K&N filter/adapter fit in the air box? Will this be hurting the performance of the open element filter? I am just looking to hide the filter because its the first thing a cop is going to see. Open to any opinions here!
