How much methanol is in windshield washer fluid?

I have seen many people list a wide variety of numbers on what the percentage of methanol is in the blue juice (washer fluid). I searched just about every company out there, and found out that regardless of the brand, the methanol percentage was consistent for whatever the temperature range was for the blue juice. It may have varied by 1-3%, but generally -20F was the same for all companies, just as all of the other temperatures were. I compiled a list of the different washer fluids by temperature, and then if you click any of them it will show you the MSDS (material safety data sheet) which will show you the methanol content.

I am not trying to say anyone is wrong, I am just trying to put out some consistent information, so I hope this is taken in the spirit it is given.

Yeah, the further north you go, the blue juice temperature rating gets lower. I do know of many people in Florida that are able to find -20F, so it is there, you just may have to look a little. Also, any national parts store should be able to order it for you, and that way you should be able to have them cover the shipping as long as you pick it up at the store.

Im pretty sure up here in michigan (mid-michigan) it's 5% dye and then a 50-50 split from there, alchy to water. I'd have to look on a bottle to make sure though.

For the Wal-Mart and Auto Zone "smurf piss" it's 1% blue dye, then 49.5% methanol, 49.5%water. In Idaho at least...

The meth/water percentage being temp related would make sense as it would appear the methanol is added to prevent the freezing that would happen with straight water. It appears straight methanol has a freezing point of like -96C (~ -141F), so obviously the colder the washer fluid rateing, the more methanol percentage it will have. The -40 stuff that you can get around here is usually right around a 50/50 mix, which seems to be inline with the others that are posted in your link . Something else to note, straight meth has a flash point of 54C (~ 130F).

I've had locals ask why I mix my own 50/50 meth/water mix and your site proves not all blue juice brands are the equal. I've been pondering running straight meth, but your site also says thats a no go even on the black 150 psi pump. Is there a certain oil addictive I can add to straight meth to make it safe on the pump?

The stuff that I have access too is rated at -64C. Tractor Trailer that leave for up north and supply diamond mines just south or the artic circle.
