My car is not winter driver but might see maybe 30F when bring it out mid march and put it away end october, mid november.
Will a blocked off filled in FIAV be a big problem? Do I have to babysit the car in it until it warms up if block the FIAV? Or does it just take longer to warmup?I can raise idle with my dsmlink and it will likley be around 900 to 1000 anyway with my cams.
So who has done this mod.I like dont' have to run the tb coolant lines and it seems to eliminate one more potential idle problem.

So yeah or nay on this mod?

no, it will start up and idle fine at that temp as long as you still use the ISC motor. It wount rev up to 2k instantly during a cold start up like it used to but will still jump right to life. Without the ISC or FIAV you have to hold your foot on the gas for a few minutes before it holds on its own in that weather

Have you ever done it? Maybe your 2g is different?

My 1g was undriveable. I could set the idle when hot, but it would stall when cold. Or I could set it to idle when cold and it would idle high when hot. The ISC was trying to learn how to make things work, but it wouldn't learn fast enough. Then it would learn and by that time the car was up to temp and it was affecting the idle that I just had set for a hot idle last time I drove it. Basically the ECU was fighting itself.

I have just done that(block fiav) after idle issues for the past few years and the car idles at 1000 rpm with 272/272 when cold/hot. I should have done that sooner..

I drive my car year round and have blocked off the FIAV and ISC. Lately it’s been pretty cold in the morning here in Fort Wayne, and I do have to keep my foot on the gas for a little while in the morning before I drive it anywhere. I also have my idle set at 1k, so once it gets passed it initial crap mode, the car drives and idles fine. It also seemed to clean up the engine bay even more. A worthwhile mod if you asked me(although I did have to buy a 91 T-body and fuel rail).
