I finally got my 3" turbo back w/O2 elem from RNR racing and it is hitting the oil filter.
I haven't hurd of this problem before. Any ideas on what to do about it? The only thing I can come up with is a remote oil filter. Sorry no pic's I did get a chance with the exhuast on the car I was just mocking it up to find problems like this as well as a few others I ran into :( . My car is going to be down for at lest two more weeks be fore I can work on it again.

If you convert your oil filter housing to a '90 style, it will give you a little more clearance because it uses an external oil cooler instead of the water cooling unit that is sandwiched between the filter and filter housing. Either that or get one of those oil filter housings that makes the filter point toward the front of the car (I still haven't been able to find a straight answer on where those filter housings come from, sorry). There's already a good bit of info on this topic in a few other threads.

Yeah it seems like a lot of work for a simple problem, but there aren't many options :(

the filter housings that face the filter straight forward have no provision for ANY kind of oil cooler. Good luck using it on a DD.

Like stated above, DO NOT use the forward facing housing unless it is strictly a track car. I have the 90' housing with a 3" and it fits fine, but you can't change the oil unless you drop the DP. "That sucks!". My fix, a K&N oil filter. It is quite a bit shorter and works well.:thumb:

Yeah, I have the 6 bolt housing with the 1g oil filter with no problems and I have the same exhaust. There is around 1 1/2" of space between them.

what is the deal with the hatred on the ff oil filter housing? jesus, you guys seem like it offended your grandmothers or something.

you can buy it form buschur for 50. it's listed under their RWD conversion products. most oil filter relocation kits include a spin on filter adapter with 1/2" pipe thread provisions for attaching the lines. the FF housing is perfect for that application using an external cooler. this is the setup I'm running for all you h8ahs out there, w3rd.

if you need a 1g external oil cooler housing (with ext. cooler too btw) hit me up as I have one for sale. it's nice to have options....
