Glen Burnie / Balt,
Just recently since the cold weather set in i go to start my car and the engine will screeeeech for like 30 seconds  and then is goes away. Plus occasionally it will screeech when i shift. Somebody Help me I hate this and it's embarrassing!!!!!!

Yes it is most likely a belt, my common one is the power steering belt. Its very easy to tighten. DO NOT over tighten the belts or you will shread your crank pulley and you will not be a happy camper.

Mine was doing the same thing, but I noticed that I was low on power steering fluid. You might also check that. ..I would be interested to know also though on how you tighten the belt.

how do you set the tension on the power steering pump belt?? I think I have the same issue

Loosen the power steering pump, insert pry bar and pull, putting tension on the belt. When you get the desired tension on the belt, tighten the bolts.
